New to Hologram? You write the entire app in Elixir, templates, event handlers, client-side state and all. The Elixir runtime itself was rebuilt to run in the browser, so client-side code behaves exactly as it would on the server. Local-First is on the roadmap.

Neither - Hologram's a full-stack framework, not just a runtime. It rebuilds the Elixir runtime in JS (not WASM), tuned for small bundles and lock-step with the event loop, with the local-first layer built on top.

If you write Elixir, you know the moment the fun stops: the frontend. I've lost afternoons to bugs that were just an object mutating somewhere it shouldn't - can't happen in Elixir. But mostly I just want to write Elixir all day. So I'm building Hologram to do exactly that. I regret nothing :)

Good question! It's fire-and-forget pub/sub, same guarantees as Phoenix Channels: at-most-once, no replay buffer, so offline clients miss broadcasts. Keep state authoritative server-side. The Local-First auto-sync layer fixes this - subscribe to state, not events. Kept docs simple, blog post coming!

Hologram v0.9 landed on Thursday and the response has blown me away. The feedback loop I love: a user hit a compile-time slowdown with deeply nested templates, reported it, and v0.9.1 is already out with the fix. On v0.9? Grab v0.9.1 to keep compiles fast :)

Field locking's a fair call - depending on scale I might've done the same. And yeah, you already know where it falls over, offline or real collab and you're stuck. It's one of the reasons Local-First's on my mind. Conflict resolution is the genuinely horrible part though ;)
