Made some piccalilli! First time doing it, and followed this recipe - share.google/PeondUwXjtuX.... I doubled it, except for the sugar which I kept at 200g, and added 3 diced red sweet peppers. It didn't make anywhere near as much as the recipe stated though 4.5 500ml jars, instead of 6), so...

I made some fire cider for the first time :) ingredients in alt text :)

A 3 litre clip-top jar of fire cider.

It contains a bulb's worth of garlic cloves, lightly crushed, one brown onion, thinly sliced, a few smallish thongs of horseradish, peeled & sliced (from my local community garden), a couple of largish thumbs of ginger, peeled & sliced, a few medium thumbs of turmeric, peeled & sliced, a couple of chinotto (Italian bitter orange), and one small grapefruit, sliced (both from my garden), a handful of green & red chili peppers, including a couple of scotch bonnets, halved lengthways, a few rosemary stalks (also from my garden), a small bunch of sage leaves, about a handful of thyme, black, pink and Szechuan peppercorns, black mustard seeds, four or five cinnamon sticks, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, caraway seeds, cardamom pods, star anise, juniper berries, the juice of half a lemon, and the the jar filled with organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar.

My first proper fig harvest! The tree is about 6-8 years old, and has been fruiting for at least half that time, but this is the first year they've had enough sun to ripen :p

Thanks to really shittyebtal & physical health stuff, it's taken me absolutely bleedin' ages to get this done (maybe about 6 weeks, off and on?) but I have finally completed a lovely mushroom bed at the allotment :) Three types of oyster mushroom (pink, blue & yellow), and some winecaps.

A no-dig allotment bed covered in layers of cardboard, woodchip, sawdust & straw, and inoculated with mushroom spawn.

I realised I didn't update. She's been home from the vet's since Wednesday evening, and is gradually improving (she was actually shouting at me for food as soon as she came out of the carrier). She's still not walking or standing properly, but is doing well nonetheless. Again, if you can help...
