I think it’s mostly the press asking questions like “are you going to put up income tax” and when they don’t get an answer they just run with “Labour are going to put up income tax”. They then subsequently follow this up with “Labour have u-turned on income tax raises”.

BBC were forecasting economic growth to be 0.1% with all sorts of problems foreseen. Economic growth comes in 3 x higher than forcated at 0.3% so the BBC changes its headline to “UK economic growth slowed to 0.3%”. You just can’t win with our media.
