Just what I wanted for the new year! Of course, the instructions (below) say "whichever new word" is my "word for 2026". Brain Rot is two words. Does this mean I get to choose? Because, if given the choice, I'll take "brain" over "rot" pretty much any day of the week.

Ran Neon City Outlaws at Gen Con today, first play of The Convention Job (which will be one of the free scenarios coming to Kickstarter backers once it's been playtested and polished). Went really well, and the players were great. Already found some things to tweak before Saturday's session!

Was up early. Couldn't sleep. Made breakfast, sorted through pictures on my desktop, unpacked some books and shelved them. Going to shelve some more, try to get some of these boxes out of my office space. Then, maybe, I'll get some real work done before the sun sets.

The movers arrive in about 14-15 hours. No matter how much we've done, how much we prepared, or how early in the process we got started, why doesn't it feel like enough? TBF, all the major stuff is packed and ready. It's just all the little things... stupid dumb little things.

I wrote to my (Republican) senator last week about Trump's tariffs. The reply I received is assuredly a form letter sent to any constituent concerned about tariffs. What gets me is the last line, which puts the onus of ending the tariffs on the nations the current administration is targeting. WTF?

Text reading as follows:

"Over the last few days, I’ve met with many business owners and farmers from North Carolina who have expressed serious concerns about universal tariffs' immediate and long-term ramifications. Policymakers owe it to hear out the American workers, businesses, and consumers who will ultimately shoulder the cost of these decisions. In order for any policy to be considered a success, there should be no doubt that the American people are better off as a result, and I hope the Trump Administration will quickly initiate discussions with nations that want to renegotiate trade deals and lower their trade barriers with the United States."
