Another enjoyable guided walk on Vatersay yesterday afternoon. Lovely views of a golden eagle overhead, eiders in the bay, waders on the beach, flocks of twite feeding on seedheads on the crofts and even a glimpse of the late afternoon sun! #naturewalks #isleofvatersay #goldeneagles #autumnvibes

Less spectacular than today's Orcas perhaps, but certainly easier to photograph: we spent some time watching one of Barra's Otters this afternoon as it proved what an effective hunter it was. It typically came up with prey on its 3rd or 4th dive, spent 3 minutes eating it, then repeated.

Blue sky and blue waters in the distance.A group of 6 people spead out along a pebbly beach with old bags looking for rubbish. They surrounding a pile of rubbish which they have collected from the beach. An old compost bag full of marine plastic on a sandy beach with stones and the high tide mard behind it. The wintering Turtle Dove present on Barra since late October was still at Glen today, seemingly unfazed by this morning's snow and ice. Not bad for a bird that should be spending its winter days in 30+degrees somewhere south of the Sahara. #BirdingScotland #Birds
