Chicago beat disco down unfortunately and the industry had run its course diluting it. New Wave and hip hop in a few years would help resurrect it into house music.

I forgot Nick Lowe and Ian Dury. A friend gave me tickets for the the back in early 90’s for The The . When I received the tickets they also had back stage access. Johnny Marr played w them at the time and I was fortunate to meet him and Matt Johnson.

There was loads that were underground and saw zero radio play (thank goodness) In fact 1979 produced a ton of fantastic funk goodness that became sampled in hip hop and house music

I could not get enough of Madonna’s first album. I got several 12” from a record pool and the dance floor lit up the first time I played Burning Up. Ditto for Shannon. That New York electro sound was great.

I was about to be a high school senior. My musical tastes were a far cry from my peers. My best friend and I were skateboarders and we hung out with an older crowd at university of Colorado. So our soundtrack had jazz, fusion, progressive rock and funk whipped into a blender and served up to us.
