Then you have to piece together that boss 1 was trying to ressurect God boss 2 and tried to use you to do it but failed, someone else was able to do it later though with a bunch of npcs that thought the god would cure their scud worm famon or something.

Flammba would be like a status condition one boss inflicts on you and when you die, it causes a unique death animation where your soul pops out of your corpse but later on you fight a god boss and find that beneathe the boss room is a bunch of corpses that look like they died like you did to Flammba

I think Rising, the lost recent one is probably your best bet. Not sure if there's a community consensus about an earlier one but I imagine that's the one that's gotten the most custom maps and stuff. Hopefully ubisoft hasn't delisted any of them though...oh wait you said trails...
