Unfortunately, I didn’t really get comfortable with the controller as much as the original pro controller (I’m really stingy when it comes to things I touch, it is weird for me to explain without sounding ridiculous… because it admittedly is.) But I'm glad you liked the controller!

I thought the health items were implemented nicely. I like how Kunio-Kun combines the typical brawler genre with RPG elements; it adds a sweet resource management element to it all. I wish the number of items you could carry were reduced, maybe it is on a difficult mode, who knows?

Perhaps if I played it with two players, or when I get to New Game +, I could enjoy the equipable items more if they were limited to one player, allowing for creative setups that take advantage of different items at once between characters.

The gameplay loop is fun and engaging; the characters are fun; the later bosses leading up to the final boss are super fun; and the OST is amazing. I only have a few nitpicks: where the Dab attack input is weird, the assists sometimes break on me, and a lot of the items are too niche.

River City Girls is so awesome omg It was really cool learning about the Kunio-Kun franchise and its impact on gaming history, incorporating many of the elements we see in beat-em-ups today and even being the blueprints of Double Dragon. (1/2)

Hehe! Yeah (albeit it does have a different use) One of my biggest critique with Mighty No. 9 was that levels weren’t built around the dash super well, especially with levels that desperately tried to capture the classic Mega Man feel. So I am really curious on how it will be executed here.
