Today I was working with some ADMX files (yep...) in #VisualStudioCode, but they lacked syntax highlighting. Initially, I thought I would need an extension for this, but (thankfully) I was wrong. These files are basically XMLs, and highlighting for XML is available.
Screenshot from Visual Studio Code presenting the Settings (User Settings) dialog with search "assoc" to search for 'Files: Associations' option. In the option is item '*.ADMX' and '*.admx' (upper and lower cased) with value 'xml'.

Oh, microVMs on #Proxmox - I must check it out locally, cuz it looks pretty awesome. And seems a nice idea to run e.g. Forgejo Actions workers using this. Write-up from @rcarmo here 👇 taoofmac.com/space/blog/2026/06/18/…

Pretty nice write-up about regressive JPEGs - the cool feature that allows to provide low-resolution image while higher-resolution is still downloading. maurycyz.com/projects/bad_jpeg

I must say that process of updating Proxmox (in my home lab) is quite... nice and easy. Even with multiple nodes it is: * mark as maintenance, * drain node (to not have any containers / VMs running), * update & restart. And that is all. Both 7->8 and 8->9 worked flawlessly 🚀

I was pretty sure my notebook had a Thunderbolt port, but it turns out it doesn't. I discovered this 4 years after buying it, so it clearly wasn't that necessary! 😂

I love working with #Java. I wanted to upgrade the app runtime from 17 to 21 - all I needed to do was install the new runtime, change the java.version property to 21, rebuild, and deploy. And that is all - everything is working perfectly 😍

TIL: Podman, by default, copies the content of host's /etc/hosts to container /etc/hosts. To prevent this, put the following content in ~/.config/containers/containers.conf: [containers] base_hosts_file = "none"
Screenshot of content of ~/.config/containers/containers.conf:

# ~/.config/containers/containers.conf

Yesterday I was working with an agent refactoring some code. The agent applied the changes, praised itself for the nice code, and tried to commit. It failed to commit and then reset the changes. 😂 The next step was "Oops, I removed the changes, I will now recreate them". 😂

D'oh, system update on Pixel devices is one of a kind. Initially, it displays a message saying "up to date, last checked at 4:06." However, upon pressing "check for update," it suddenly "discovers" a new update and begins downloading it. Why?! 🙁
