Workers at the Starbucks located at The Shoppes at Wilde Lake in Columbia have voted to join Starbucks Workers United. The workers voted 19-3 to form a unit covering all full-time and regular part-time baristas and shift supervisors. Source: www.nlrb.gov/case/05-RC-3...

Employees at the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, Inc. have filed a representation petition with the NLRB. They are being represented by AFSCME Council 3. There are 66 eligible employees, meaning at least 20 signed the petition. See the NLRB case here: www.nlrb.gov/case/05-RC-3...

33 workers at Verbal Beginnings in Rockville have gone been on strike. The workers are registered behavioral technicians who provide important services to children on the autism spectrum. They unionized last year, joining Teamsters Local 639, but have yet to gain a first contract.

Tech Workers at Coforma have formed the Coforma Labor Alliance and have voted 71-14 to join the Communications Workers of America, according to result released June 18th. Coforma is a government contractor that provides digital engineering and design for the IRS and Department of Veteran Affairs.

The workers at Baby's on Fire in Mount Vernon have formed a union, Baby's on Fire Workers United (@bofworkersunited). Represented by United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 27 (@ufcw27), they are now seeking voluntary recognition from the owners David and Shirlé Koslowski before June 25th.

Workers at the Community College of Baltimore County won their first union contract with United Academics of Maryland: a 12.6% pay increase over 3 years, a step system, regular cost-of-living adjustments, a faculty sick-leave bank, and academic freedom protections.
