Hype is fine. Overhype is another thing entirely. I don’t see why people can’t be excited but also temper their expectations. Just leads to a fuck ton of bitter people complaining because the very specific idea in their head didn’t come to pass.

It’s a strange thing, because the people most equipped to critique something are the ones who enjoy it most. I’ve always found the lack of respect for objective criticism of art really trite, too. The whole “art is subjective” thing just kills any discussion about the technical aspects.
