every day i like to check this website that lists a bunch of world holidays, major or minor, and i found that October 10 was I Love Yarn Day!
yknow at this point i think i have a bit of a kinship with yarn balls the same way some furries do their fursona species

![a reference sheet of an anthropomorphic green grasshopper character named 'kiapo', wearing a grey plaid newsboy cap & collared long-sleeve shirt. he has a dark, almost black vest over it, with baggy blue jeans and white shoes with a black toe & bottom. there is a front and back view with a colour palette and multiple expressions (confused, tired, flustered). on the right reads essential info about the character, starting with the top box: 'Born in [Uganda], studies in [Switzerland] / Speaks Luganda, English, Swahili, & some Swiss German. / 165cm (5'5) / (183cm (6'0) with antennae) / Calm, stoic, hardworking, often the "voice of reason" / Studies architecture'. the bottom box has more pictures, including a drawing of him squinting while holding up his cap to reveal his forehead, his hands, and various outfits (construction worker, kanzu (traditional east african garb), & college student): 'Ocelli (simple eyes) / helps sense direction & motion / Jagged mouth / Has 3 fingers / May wear a variety of outfits / *Rarely doesn't wear a hat'](https://cdn.bsky.app/img/feed_thumbnail/plain/did:plc:exhp7xufacdif2usxxnhnwa5/bafkreifqhchlj7ydyukoa3jqkhycpuo4omfpgdqgfra4wm5jiuz4tzzohy)
![backstory:
[pronounced NEE-lee]
neali is my third 'official' 'object' character and is actually still my third newest character as well, despite being two years old at the time of posting this. he is my first and so far only character that i technically did not design, as his design was based on a prompt from Craiyon (some may remember it as DALL-E) in 2023. i was trying to get inspiration for actual object characters at the time like a yo-yo (this was before i had a yo-yo character) or a foam ball, but instead i generated some pretty weird ones, since this was when craiyon was still pretty bad. so even the original generation has extra eyes and an arm growing out on top, which i decided to turn into cheek marks and an anglerfish-like lure respectively

alt text: a reference sheet of a pink alien-like object show character named neali. he has a long mouth, black cheeks, and an anglerfish-like lure. the top reads 'Neali; (Unknown gender); 56cm (22")'. the top right shows how the character was baised on an old craiyon prompt. below that shows nealis loyalness to his friends. below that showcases how he cant imitate any human language. on the bottom is a disclaimer reading, '*Please note that, while Neali's design is based on an AI prompt, I do not support AI replacing human creativity nor do I use AI for any of my art.'](https://cdn.bsky.app/img/feed_thumbnail/plain/did:plc:exhp7xufacdif2usxxnhnwa5/bafkreiai7ijenidtoughyw5nfzwju6bclooccvbkbqigfvkrtvinzzm2xq)
