Why are you quoting your own reply? I'm not talking about COBRA. I was making a point about the constitutional separation of powers. Anyway, this conversation is exhausting me now and Gardeners World is on.

Erm. No. I wasn't really complaining. I was just disagreeing with your contention of apathy because it shouldn't be up to the government if the police enforce the laws on the statute book. Anti-semitism is also surely unlawful and should be policed accordingly. That's all. Have a nice evening.

By the way, the article you shared says "Mahmood told the Commons on Wednesday she intended to restore the power for home secretaries to dismiss chief constables "who fail their communities"." Has this been done? I could have missed it, but I don't think it has. Which somewhat undermines 'control'

Colin Pidgeon @baldypidge.bsky.social · 11/09/2026
But the government *should not* control the police. Of course, the UK's constitution doesn't help here. For a good discussion see consoc.org.uk/the-police-a...

It's the job of the police to enforce the law, not government. Unless you believe the law needs changed in some way? Personally, I would have thought the police have plenty of powers for policing this kind of behaviour. There may not be enough of them perhaps. But that's a rather different issue.

Worth it to introduce my daughter to the Levellers as part of her last weekend before leaving home in Belfast for Liverpool University. For sure. Good to go out with a bang. I'm going to miss her like crazy.

They were great. I saw them in the Brighton Centre with some mates from six form college. This year I got to introduce my 18 year old to them. It was a last, and very special, gig together before she heads off to Liverpool University.

It's 100 per cent prevalent in everyone who suffers from it. That's why it's disrespectful to call it disputed. There are many studies measuring prevalence in different ways and using different definitions. It is a constellation of symptoms with clustering in different systems in different people.

If you dispute the 'subject' of Long COVID, I dispute the subject of your credibility, given that you clearly cannot or will not read or understand science. 'At best', you're a denier of millions of people's suffering and that's not a good look.

I tried 'stationary defence' against a violent drunken hooligan on my 21st birthday. It was useless against a cider bottle to the head. I needed 18 stitches. If the tree is using that defence, my money is on you with a chainsaw, axe or even some petrol and matches.
