I think there's definitely a design space where they're great, but the fail case is so disastrous that as a developer you have to be locked tf in Very similar to level scaling or restrictive saves, although people don't seem to hate those as much

I kind of like how SDCC does it, with a capped attendance but returning attendees get first chance at the ticket lottery, but I get that its frustrating if you dont get it. Still seems better to upset some people vs uncapped and making it bad for everyone

I mean I agree that a too crowded convention is an issue, but capping attendance seems easier. Any longer than a week and you lose the main appeal imo, which is seeing people you normally wouldn't. The small timeframe means everyone will be there. Not just friends, but also guests and industry ppl

I love so much of Rebirth but the more it sits with me the more I think it's a big miss when it comes to representing the original, while also not deviating enough to be its own thing like Remake is, so it's in such a weird spot for me. Mechanically though its some of the best SE combat since KH2

I don't want to pit two Bad Bitches against each other, but my primary emotional response to a lot of Ultrakill is eyeroll (deragortory) but for Dusk it's eyeroll (complementary) It's certainly not a perfect game but as an experience I enjoyed my time with it more

I think a devil daggers style endless mode is probably the cleanest way to set this up - Dusk (same publisher as Ultrakill but a better game imo) has one and quake mapping is easy enough I'm sure someone has made it already

I built my computer 3 years ago with enough ram in it to have a RAM drive to fix loading times on some badly optimized adventure games, and now its worth more than my car

It's in a weird case, because normally when something has good gameplay and good production values but is bad art, nobody really complains. Its like complaining about the changes to the story in Doom Eternal. Yeah theyre bad but who cares? And anyone invested in ff7 sounds crazy by default lol

I think in the level 1 run it mostly washes out with the zodiac version, since 2 jobs in the zodiac age is still less than the full license board of the og ps2. Much easier than the japanese only version though
