There's a frost coming tonight so I pulled the rest of my peppers, oregano and rosemary. The rest of the plants are cold tolerant and should be fine out there for a while longer. #farmlife #gardening #growyourown

My own hot peppers haven't produced yet, but a friend in a neighbouring garden told me I could pick some of his, so hot sauce is in my future after all 😀 #growyourown #gardening #farmlife

I screwed up my tomato paste and have to start over 😭 That's another good thing about gardening: when you screw up something you cook it doesn't cost you any money lol. #gardening #growyourown

Looks like I won't be processing any watermelon. 'Cause I ate it 😆

The sunflowers aren't dry enough to harvest yet, but I picked a seed to see how it was coming along, and that thing is an absolute beast. A single seed was an inch long. #gardening #growyourown #farmlife

TIL beets don't taste like dirt to most people. Apparently it is like the soapy cilantro gene, only some of us can taste it.

Back at the farm, so much harvesting and clean up to do still. I'm pulling my tomato plants, but my peppers are still producing so I think I'm going to leave those in a bit longer. My broccoli is going crazy so I'll need to do some prep there too. Plus more tomatoes apples and watermelon lol.

I haven't posted about my fish tank in a while, but here's how it's going since the last time I posted a photo. The plants are definitely coming along. It is still on a filter, but I'm just not home enough to babysit it through the transition period, so it stays for now. #aquarium #plantedtank

This is a long one but needs to be said. This is a link to a video of Mandy Patinkin, a Jewish actor and his thoughts about Gaza. They reflect mine perfectly. I am half Jewish, meaning half my family is fully Jewish. I had a grandfather in Auschwitz, and when I www.reddit.com/r/PoursTea/s...

Well, I didn't grow the parmesan cheese or the elbow macaroni 😆 but the sauce is 100% home grown and SO delicious. #gardening #growyourown #cooking #foodie #farmlife 🍽

Made tomato powder, basil pesto and have some sage in the dehydrator. Tomorrow, applesauce and parsley pesto. After that I think I need to make harvesting peppers and tomatoes a priority even if they are unripe because the nights are starting to get too cold. #gardening #growyourown #farmlife

The first round of tomatoes have been made into sauce, as well as some green beans and tomato paste getting put in the dehydrator. #farmlife #growyourown #gardening 🍽️

I've haven't felt this level of hopefulness about my country in what feels like forever. Carney is doing a great job. He is opening up trade around the world, is making us an associate member of the EU, made a deal with Ukraine for...

More tomatoes, broccoli and green beans. I'm making stew today but will probably turn those tomatoes into sauce tomorrow. #growyourown #farmlife #gardening 🍽

Twister is getting hard to clip in his old age. His skin used to be taught and I could just quickly run the blades over him. Now he's all loose and when I move the blades against his skin he bunches up like a Shar Pei lol. I'm next I guess 😆😆😆

I went to go pick some apples in the pasture. I had a full bag when the handle broke, spilling apples all over the ground, rolling down the hill, gone. I grabbed another bag and started again, only to be attacked by hornets and stung repeatedly in the neck and arm. I think I'm done for today 😭

Much (but not all) healthcare in Canada is free. My shoulder surgery was free, but dental care hasn't been for a long time. The new federal dental plan has been implemented and I'm getting a 3,000 dollar crown for 180 dollars. So grateful to be #canadian #canada

Tomatoes, basil, cilantro seed. The tomatoes are a bit underripe, but I'm going to be gone from the farm for a couple of days and I don't want them falling off the vine in my absence. It seriously feels like it weighs about 15 pounds lol. #gardening #growyourown #farmlife 🍽

I now own 3 cans of bear spray. I bought one myself a few years back for hiking in Washago. Then someone gifted me a can randomly, as you do. Now a bear moved onto the farm, and, completely understandably, I was gifted a third can. Apparently I give off strong 'may be mauled at any moment' energy.

Season progress pics. It is getting raggedy out there, there is never enough energy to both harvest and weed, but this close to the end of the season I'm not too worried about it. #gardening #farmlife

I've blanched and frozen the broccoli, cauliflower and green beans. I also made egg salad with some farm eggs, and I'm starting a batch of apple butter. #gardening #growyourown #farmlife

I forgot to take a picture of the broccoli but here's the rest of today's harvest. The cauliflower is a little over mature, I should have picked it last week when it was still snowy white, but it is still good to eat. Today I chop, tomorrow I process. #gardening #growyourown #farmlife

A big ass bowl of green beans. Some of them are quite large, but I ate some of them raw and they aren't fibrous at all, so they'll be processed and eaten with the rest of them. #gardening #growyourown #farmlife 🍽

Back at the farm, and harvest time is definitely here. I'm gonna eat my strawberries, take a nap, then get going on some food picking and processing. I also have to prop some plants back up after a heavy rainfall. #gardening #growyourown #farmlife

Two days in a row I've seen a hummingbird in my garden! I can't get a picture because he's way too fast!

I've been harvesting like crazy, both for myself and others, and I've barely made a dent in the garden 😆. I thought there would be a whole lot of empty space. Nope. It's getting bushier every day. There is however, a little bit of space to plant a new round of carrots, spinach, and cruciferous veg.
