We need non-medicalised legal access for smokers to vaping in Australia not misinformation, junk science, prejudice, ideological bias and unscientific concerns.

Some scary comments here from 'educated' people

Unfortunately most members of the public have copped a barrage of exaggerated claims and outright lies via media articles and gov public health and cancer charity announcements so its hardly surprising they think its more or as harmful as smoking.

The deeper they dig the hole the deeper they'll eventually be buried. Wishful thinking? Perhaps they'll never be held accountable protected by layers of academia and grants.

Entirely predictable considering the prohibition era dysfunctional regulations in Australia.

Great she countered the recent 'reliable' smoking stats that the public health industry is cracking champagne over.

bakerbee1.bsky.social @bakerbee1.bsky.social · 17/07/2026
I'd say the reliability of any smoking stats decrements with any increment in illegal sales. Of course the hubris of the PH health industry seeks to advertise itself as always successful. As expected.

bakerbee1.bsky.social @bakerbee1.bsky.social · 16/07/2026
+ If I were a smoker these days I'd stick with $12 smokes than jump hurdles to get legal vapes. Maybe I'd try an illegal disposable vape and find them disgusting (flavours too sickly sweet with coolant) and go back to the cheap smokes. Both situations created by policy.

Anybody pro-THR in AU becomes a smear target for these clowns. Is hilarious Simon's offloaded his monologues to his mini-me frowning Becky.

bakerbee1.bsky.social @bakerbee1.bsky.social · 15/07/2026
Honestly Alex. If they'd done that in Australia and kept the re-usable ones (that I use) and kept the dedicated vape shops (usually run by passionate ex-smokers) and allowed regulated nic e-liquid sales I'd be happy. Better for environment, better for smokers (and potential future smokers).

😆 Cool ok. Let's just double-down then and see where that gets us. This is what is being suggested and while we're at it lets restrict tobacco harm reduction for smokers even more so they don't use the black market. Surely a win-win for smokers, vapers and criminals 🤡

Poor Simon, running out of excuses for the terrible outcomes from failed policies that he was a prime consultant 'expert' on. You can see his desperation with another hair-brained idea of shut down tobacconists and supermarket sales only. Time to face the music and admit you failed. Time for rethink

They've (croakey) always been a part of the anti-THR machine. A media outlet amplifying/advertising the views of the usual crew. God it must be getting uncomfortable for them. Perhaps they think they are untouchable? Love your writing Al, keep going.
