When I say you can team up, I mean there’s content before endgame. Eco warrior alliances, bcnms every 10 levels for important scrolls/gear, garrison, NM hunting for gear and some other stuff before lv 75 when you reach the old FFXI 75 endgame

You can party up with people now and there’s technically content you can far for equipment/gear as early as level 20 even if it’s not exactly popular anymore. Or even if you just want to hang out. Overall modern XI tries to funnel you towards lv 99 and start the various endgames with other players.

That’s probably an Allagan character if they make any new ones. I personally find the fantasy speak super interesting after I stopped to think about “normal” words and how we speak the same way we do, we just don’t notice because we never think about what the words mean when taken literal.

The shades also come in a red variety that are relatively easy to obtain. Monocles are paired up with scholar specific gear and only come with the graduation type hat if I recall the models correctly. There are also normal glasses which were generally associated with weavers.

Anything more is spoiler territory for you, but FFXI absolutely does not remotely fit into a shard for a dozen different lore reasons within XI and XIV. One such reason is it already has its own multiverse with none of the other ones resembling an XIV shard.

No, the lore is that those are birthmarks that get darker with age. The war paint thing is SE messing up on their own lore for the sake of the new feature.
