Police are reviewing footage of crowd trouble involving a small minority of supporters at Saturday's Muratti Vase game at Springfield. In the aftermath of a 2-1 victory for Guernsey in the men's Muratti, there were ugly scenes as a cluster of visiting supporters came onto the pitch and goaded their Jersey counterparts. While no arrests have been made so far, a police investigation is ongoing.

A man arrested over the weekend on suspicion of making threats to kill other people has pleaded guilty to telecoms offences. The 35-year-old was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning, and appeared before the Magistrate's Court today, where he was remanded in custody until 4 June. The court heard that Nico Roger Dormer of no fixed address has been in the island working as a carpenter.

Work to reset the complaints process within Health and Social Care steps up a gear this week with service users and former and current staff all being asked to share their experiences. The Complaints and Learning Working Group, set up to address concerns over the way complaints are handled by HSC, is hosting listening exercises - starting on Wednesday. These exercises will form part of work aimed at enhancing "transparency and fairness and public confidence in the Health & Social Care complaints process", said a spokesperson concerned with organising the groups.

The Channel Islands Co-op appeared before the Court of Appeal this morning seeking to overturn a ruling that awarded £3.5 million to its former chief executive. The appeal hearing, which is expected to last three days, marks the latest chapter in a long-running dispute between the Channel Islands Co-operative Society and former chief executive Colin Macleod. Mr Macleod led the organisation for a decade from 2010, but claims the final years of his tenure were overshadowed by a sustained campaign to remove him from his position.

Sexual offences made up 11.65% of all crimes in 2025
Out of 2215 crimes reported to Guernsey Police last year, more than 11% of them were of a sexual nature. That included 69 rapes, 67 sexual assaults, 15 acts of voyeurism, and 12 counts concerning indecent images of children. Voyeurism towards a child, buggery, grooming, and sexual touching offences were each reported once. The alleged crimes are detailed in the Guernsey Police Annual Report for 2025.

A man arrested over the weekend on suspicion of making threats to kill other people has been charged with telecoms offences. The 35-year-old is due to appear before the Magistrate's Court today. He has been held in custody since being arrested in the early hours of Sunday. The situation around the man's arrest is not yet clear - but Guernsey Police Chief Officer Damian Kitchen accused the public of being "borderline hysterical" on Saturday night as the online Guernsey grapevine spread "wholly inaccurate" misinformation around the police investigation and what had led to it.

A "symbol of Andalusia’s maritime heritage" is heading towards the island in the form of a replica 17th-century Spanish galleon. Galeón Andalucía will arrive in Jersey next week as part of its wider 2026 tour. It is not the first time the historic ship has appeared in the island, having previously visited for the Jersey Boat Show. Tickets to go on board are available online, with Galeón Andalucía due to be at the Albert Pier from 20 to 25 May with opening hours of 10am to 8pm each day.

Blanchelande College is assessed by the Catholic Schools Inspectorate as well as Ofsted. Islanders are being invited to step out under the stars this summer as the annual Moonlight Walk returns next month. The fundraiser, hosted by Jersey Hospice Care, gives islanders the chance to remember and celebrate loved ones who have passed. The event is due to take place on Saturday 13 June in St Aubin, with walkers able to choose between two routes, a 5km "Half Moon Walk" or a 10km "Full Moon Walk".

Equality charity Liberate, which organises the annual CI Pride events, has set up the online survey in a bid to better understand the issues and how they can represent the community. The Royal Golden Guernsey breed is facing the threat of extinction locally, with numbers dwindling on-island despite becoming a firm favourite overseas for its dairy produce as well as for environmental and agricultural purposes. Even being granted a Royal title in 2024 hasn't stopped the numbers reducing locally, with Art for Guernsey issuing a rallying cry to the Bailiwick’s artists earlier this year, leading to its new exhibition.

The store, which was one of the few remaining shops exclusively selling footwear in St Helier, has launched a closing down sale to sell remaining stock. This follows difficulties faced by the business during the last couple of months in the UK, with The Mirror recently reporting the firm had suffered financial losses of more than £5 million and further store closures.

But, ahead of the 108th edition of the famous sporting rivalry at Springfield today, one thing on the prohibited list has raised confusion and a few laughs. The P&R President has said it is "absolutely business as usual" for Guernsey's top political committee, after the arrest and subsequent resignation of one of the island's leading politicians. The States will soon elect a new member to Policy and Resources, after Forward Guernsey leader Deputy Gavin St Pier and his wife were arrested on suspicion of "misconduct in public office", with Deputy St Pier later resigning from P&R.

A woman from Alderney has called for the island to get its own dialysis machines for the first time in a decade. Without the machines she may have to move to Guernsey or the UK, as dialysis needs to be done several times a week.

A woman from Alderney has called for the island to get its own dialysis machines for the first time in a decade. Kelly Main said her 71-year-old mother, Julie Main, has stage 4 chronic kidney disease and is likely to need dialysis in the near future. Mrs Main said she had approached the States of Guernsey about putting in new dialysis machines, however she had been told that experts "don't recommend to do it".

The latest 'Quarterly Travel and Visitor Accommodation Bulletin' shares data collated during the first three months of this year. People travelling here during that time have given the island its highest 'Net Promoter Score' ever. Charlie Walker, Co-Chair of the Tourism Advisory Board, said while this is good news, the challenge will be to keep the NPS high and to encourage visitors to keep returning while telling others to also come here.

Guernsey's Chamber of Commerce has voted in a new President, after the previous one left to try his hand at politics. Public Relations expert Brooke Kenyon has taken on the role, following an election at the organisation's Annual General Meeting on 6 May. She replaces Stephen Rouxel, who stood down at the start of March to stand in the by-election, picking up 230 votes.

John Curran has been appointed Chairman of Guernsey’s Data Protection Authority. ​Mr Curran, who is succeeding Richard Thomas CBE in the role, currently serves as Chairman of the Guernsey Competition and Regulatory Authorities, and the Guernsey Employment Trust.  ODPA Commissioner Brent Homan stated that Mr Curran’s experience with regulatory frameworks and complex legislation will be invaluable to the role. "We are delighted to welcome John as Chairman of the Authority.
