Early-afternoon thoughts: the entire reason to fully support Ukraine and secure a decisive defeat of Russia as soon as possible is to guard against the escalation of the conflict into Europe, Africa, and elsewhere. This would lead to a much larger World War Three than we currently face.

Early morning thoughts: we are electing Democrats not to maintain "business as usual" in politics, but to utterly reject the failed policies of the GOP and to not compromise on that basic necessity. Democratic candidates who don't commit to this are GOP-lite and should be treated as such, period.

Noontime thoughts: From "Gulf of America" to "Ivermectin works!" to "it's Biden's fault!" to "Lake America" to "but he's not a rapist (technically)!" a telltale characteristic of the Trump regime is the ongoing effort to tell enough lies to fool the American people. Don't let it happen to you.

NEW: More than 51 million mail ballots will be sent to voters in the coming weeks just from the District of Columbia and the two dozen states that are challenging the Trump administration’s 11th-hour attack on mail voting. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

States challenging Trump's mail voting rule must mail more than 51 million ballots by late October
In her order, Talwani concluded it was “practically inevitable” that, if left to stand, the rule would prevent voters from casting ballots this year.

Mid-morning thoughts: if you remember that tabletop role-playing games have been around for more than half a century, you shouldn't be surprised that there's a LOT of variation in how people play and what's considered fun. The trick now is in finding the people who like playing the way you do.

Mid-afternoon thoughts: the Trump regime is made up of grifters, shysters, and con men, all masquerading as "business men." They have been highly effective is persuading people to be scared of "socialism" and "outsiders" all while robbing the government blind, and picking our pockets as a result.

Noontime thoughts: *if* the Democrats get a majority in the House and Senate in November, they should hold the Trump regime accountable for ALL of its actions (defunding ICE is just the first step). When you arrive with political capital, you need to spend that capital to get things done.

Early-morning thoughts: shock gloves aren't "law enforcement technology" they're "torture devices." Repurposed infantry fighting vehicles are "military equipment", not cop cars. Flock cameras aren't "law enforcement tools" they're "unconstitutional surveillance devices." Use the right terminology.

Noontime thoughts: what the Trump regime has demonstrated is that we cannot take any progress for granted. That everything can be rolled back or eliminated unless we fight to stop it. Assuming otherwise is wildly overly optimistic. If we want a better country, we need to build it AND defend it.

Early-morning thoughts: it is time to carefully review Project 2025 from the Heritage Foundation, chapter by chapter, page by page. What has already been implemented and how has that worked? How much damage has been done and what do we do about it, when we take the country back? It's time, America.

Late night thoughts: If-and-when the Trump regime is gone, we will need an ongoing organizing effort to protect our democracy from the return of MAGA in any form. It needs to educate and organize people to be ready to protect the republic (if I'm reinventing the wheel, please advise me).

Ya there's the philosophical thing but also the kind of prosaic reality that the specific guys running the surveillance state in cities usually live in a suburb called Klansburg and commute by car an hour each way and resent that there's a city in between them and their parking garage

Late-morning thoughts: one reason why the Nationalists won the Spanish Civil War was because they were more united than the Republicans. Germany and Italy sent troops and supplies to help Franco, but the infighting between the Socialists, Communists, and Anarchists made it easier for Franco to win.

Mid-evening thoughts: I've got seven words for my fellow Hong supporters: "harm reduction" and "the rest of the ballot." Tiffany is worse than Trump; there are a lot of other races in this election that matter. Not showing up to campaign and vote is complying in advance with the forces of fascism.

Early-morning thoughts: time to recalibrate expectations, people! The only way we get a more progressive Wisconsin is to unify behind Crowley and evict the GOP majority in the Assembly and Senate. It's about winning, not purity, and dragging things back to the left, step by step.

Early-morning thoughts: we don't win on political issues when we triangulate with fascists. We win when we fight for what's right, and we turn out people to vote for what's right. Not doing that is how the Overton Window gets jerked to the right. Not understanding this is how we lose elections.

Mid-evening thoughts: primaries have one set of candidate measurements and general elections have an ENTIRELY different set of candidate measurements. Therefore, recalibrating your expectations is absolutely necessary, before and after the primary. This is strategic AND necessary.

Mid-morning thoughts: pulling the Overton Window back to the left is going to result in the tensions seen between "progressives" and "centrists" in the Democratic Party. But it requires party discipline to be successful: "vote Blue, no matter who" is necessary to move things back to the left.

Mid-morning things: successful, durable political change does not happen because of "white knight" independent candidates without any political organization. It happens when people in sufficient numbers decide their mutual self-interest moves them to ACT TOGETHER.

Mid-afternoon thoughts: the support for ICE and the Trump regime is largely rooted in racism. The active deportation of everybody not white is not only a complete misread of US history, it is designed to cut one's nose off to spite one's face.

Mid-evening thoughts: seems like the GOP has decided that vilifying Dr. Fauci is their winning issue. It is actually rather weird to observe in real time. My current suspicion is that this is designed to ignite their base, which recent polling suggests were getting unenthusiastic. Time will tell.

Early-morning thoughts: the Log Cabin Club of the Republican Party has failed in their mission and strategy: get the GOP to like and accept cisgender gay men. They have chosen to support the homophobic GOP, rather than fight for LGBTQIA+ rights. It would be sad if it weren't so pathetic and awful.

Early-morning thoughts: I think it is important to look at HOW the Trump regime takes action: never consulting Congress, treating allies as junior subsidiaries, buying equity in contracted businesses. This is how CEOs and corporations act, not democratic governments. It is how fascism takes root.

Early-morning thoughts: it is INSANE that the US is in a state of Schrodinger's War, due to Trump's illegal actions. This results in looking at the Strait of Hormuz to see if we're at war or not - "Oil tankers burning? Yes/No" The Trump regime has a bad case of FAFO and we're paying the price.

Early-morning thoughts: the problem of testing the limits of water supplies is, well, testing the limits of water supplies. This applies to data centers, irrigation, the Aral Sea (go look it up), the Great Salt Lake, Hoover Dam, and a bunch of other situations. All of this should be terrifying.

Early-evening thoughts: people who think that politicians don't do real work are corrosive to democracy, full stop. When politicians engage with their constituents, debate legislation, and pass laws, that's "bogus" and "anybody could do that." People who think that way are close to being fascist.

Early-morning thoughts: this might sound crazy, but I thought voting in primaries was the way we selected candidates for governor, not by last-minute endorsements by politicians who said they'd wait for the primary. It worked in New York City, it should work in Wisconsin. I know, that's crazy talk.

Early-morning thoughts: how ICE operates and how Steven Miller talks are clearly racist. Describing this as "TDS" is _also_ racist. Letting this become government policy and procedure is _institutional racism_. Having SCOTUS approve of it all, e.g. "Kavanaugh stops" is _systemic racism_.
