It was. And you bringing it up to reply to a post about mergers and ownership proves that you don't know anything about it, since the Fairness Doctrine had nothing to do with media ownership. The Telecommunications Act of 1996 would be a far better reference here than the irrelevant Fairness Doc.

I try to talk people out of advocating for a policy that in their mind would have a significant amount of power to the federal government when it comes to regulating media content, which is a bad idea. Not sure why people who have livd 6 years of Trump don't always think it's a bad idea, but it is.
