People today really can't comprehend that Columbus was fired for being too cruel to the locals. The people who started the Spanish Inquisition thought Columbus was too cruel to remain as governor of hispania

It would take a LOT of soft power at this point. He is personally intertwined in a way that is hard to understand. But the key to his empire is his most real company, SpaceX. If you get him out of SpaceX the rest kind of collapses

Probably explains why the show was canceled. A genuine loss because that show was excellent. And we could have gotten a phenomenal black cat in live action

Especially after hegseth has fucked everything up, I think the next democratic defense secretary should focus 90%of their energy on personally excising elon musk from the government

These people think that the Democrats are no better than the Republicans and this is a major impetus to the dems winning elections. Maybe someone might see that triangulation is hurting the dems more than helping at this point.

Anyone who makes a minor annoyance their whole personality is the reason the minor annoyance exists. Why do I have to do sexual harassment training? Because there are a bunch of people who love to harass women. See the bad guy in this scenario isn't the annoying woke HR, it's the abuser

Would love to see more source information as well as details as to what sectors are driving downward trend in this chart. But here's graphs showing increased costs of construction starting in late 2025

At best it's a sometimes helpful tool that takes way more computing power than it's worth. At middling it's a completely unnecessary feature added to something that generally works better without it.

As someone who has a fairly religious antagonism to AI it's important to acknowledge that the problem really isn't the tool itself. It's fine. It's a tool. Some people enjoy it. Whatever. The problem is the whole culture. The hype is crazy. Ppl need to shut the fuck up about it.

Baddatatakes @baddatatakes.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
If you are at a company doing ai adoption you can see the problem is all the bullshit that execs think ai can do that it's really bad at. What generative ai is really good at is writing good corporate language. Execs can't get enough and think they can fire everyone

This is the reason I like when politicians are interested in governing. There is a lot of work to be done and someone needs to do it. They can't fix society or our culture, that work is much messier. But they CAN have meaningful impacts to make life significantly less difficult

It's both, and we did it decades ago. Think about when ai started up in video games, functionally it was like adding new players. ELIZA (which was way less sophisticated than current models) was indistinguishable from sentience for people in *1966*

Yep! The anti-vaxx/MAHA movement is very clearly a product of a right-wing media environment. A 2022 survey found Fox News viewers were 4x more likely to hold anti-vaxx views than non-Fox viewers, by far the best predictor. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...

Realizing the extent to which this is true wildly changed my opinions about how to deal with Trumpism, since they're never going to be satisfied unless they're actively dominating everyone else. You can't give them some concessions and go back to the status quo: they're reactionary revolutionaries.

The fun thing about number 1 is that we actually did this decades ago. With AI. What's changing now isostly compute power and the models we are using to do it

And AOC reaching out isn't necessarily a bad thing. Politicians can and should grow the tent while siphoning support from the opposition. But if her camp thinks these people are reasonable in any way they are deluding themselves. The best thing i can say is that they have been hoodwinked.

Being hesitant about a vaccine is not anti-vaxx/MAHA. Anti-vaxx is a whole worldview of wrong, conspiratorial, and borderline extreme beliefs that more or less boil down to "more people should die because science is bad"

Theres definitely a vibes component as well. EVERYONE has been dismissed by a doctor. This is because not all the things you bring up to a doctor are medically relevant. But media networks exploit very real concerns about medical care and push nonsense
