Patrik Laine - Why Not?
• He's looking to be cheap, just like the budget
• He can score
• On the second line, Johnston can play defense for him, eh coach?
• He's a PP guy, Gulatzen is a PP guy, maybe they can have PP magic?
• Stars scoring dries up at the absolute worst of times, how can this not be a help?
I'm not a cap specialist, but let's assume you could get Laine for 2 mil - can the Stars make that work? Should they even try?

Hockey Trade Rumors

This would completely reshape the Maple Leafs' core.

Toronto gets Jason Robertson AND Roope Hintz.
Dallas gets William Nylander, Matthew Knies and Toronto's 2027 first-round pick.
For the Leafs, it would mean turning two major pieces of their current core into a new elite scoring winger and a proven top-six centre. For Dallas, Nylander brings game-breaking offence while Knies adds size, youth and long-term upside - plus another first-rounder.

“Whelp. Sounds like the selfish pos is staying. Getting close to his $14 million. Who else is getting sent packing so Dallas cannot compete? My guess is Steel, Faksa, Myers, Blackwell are next. Guess Hemming will be on the team next season for sure. Hopefully he's all that they've said is supposed to be and he can play top 2 lines. Best start getting the run down on our Texas Stars players since they'll be Dallas Stars now.”

“I'm so done with Robertson. Dallas now has $12.5 in cap space. Instead of signing him is anyone else down to use that to pay Larkin and Knies in some way of a trade?”

“If CBJ accepts the god awful packages I'm seeing

Werenski, they need to fold the franchise.
At the very least I'm asking for Harley + Johnston”

Bob Sturm
@SportsSturm

Triple dog dare you to offer sheet him. I think owning Ottawa's next four 1sts would be delightful.
David Pagnotta • @TheFourthPeriod
Things are very fluid, and there's plenty of time for Dallas to explore its options, but sources say Ottawa is making a big push for Jason Robertson. If a trade cannot be ironed out and he hits July 1 as an RFA, the Senators could present him with a significant offer

@bigheadhcky
Dallas currently has $10.4m in cap space to sign Bourque, Bunting, Benn, and most notably, Jason Robertson.
Ottawa has $25m in cap space with no major unsigned player.
Does 9th overall, 25th overall, Zetterlund, Hensler get it done?

“Trade Seguin somehow and use that to resign bourque and robo.
Id do a bridge deal with robo.
Benn and larkin is a no go”

“Not going to get anything for a
player that is always hurt, only played 47 games in the last 2 yrs, owed 9.8 M and is 34.
Best bet is to keep him on LTIR, use his whole $9.8 mil contract on others. Trade Harley for Larkin, that saves another $2.+ million, sign Rasmus Andersson to a 3 yr $18m deal and resign Bourque. Buyout Lybushkin saves 1.6, Myers saves you 750K but he is gone and would consider trading Hintz but again what are you gonna get for a player that hurts when you need him”

“Missing Peter DeBoer yet? He tried to warn us about Oettinger, and he got fired for it. Start DeSmith for the rest of this series and maybe we have a chance to win.
Regardless, Dallas deserves to be eliminated in the first round. How do you fire a coach who took you to the conference finals three years in a row? Now they're going to get eliminated in round one. That's karma. Should've kept DeBoer and traded Oettinger.”

Joel Eriksson Ek, Mats Zuccarello and Jared Spurgeon getting a rest. Bobby Brink, Nico Sturm and Daemon Hunt (first game since March 1) in.
Jesper Wallstedt starts

What is the coaching staff thinking?! Why are they not giving Boldy, Hughes and Faber at least 2 games rest before playoffs! Dallas has been resting players for several weeks at this point.
Guess we know who the seasoned playoff team is! Unbelievable!

Elliotte Friedman
There is word Dallas filed paperwork declaring Tyler Seguin out for the rest of the regular season & playoffs.
By doing this, Stars get full cap relief heading into trade deadline.
Feel for Seguin, who underwent surgery for a torn ACL. Wanted to return, but couldn't.

Response:

Why does Bogorad have to scream at us all the time? Like (Hitnz SKATES IN and SHOOTS!! Misses! Yeah, like 10 feet. Sometimes you're doing other things and Josh goes nuts and you realize there wasn't even a shot on goal?
Understand what you're commentating. And so many times he doesn't know who the penalty is on and we don't find out until it's called. He's not that good. And her trys words like "Cancelled" or other terms he throws out that he needs to shelve.
