They spend a pretty considerable time teaching officers and SNCOs that their career (and possible freedom) are over if one of your Marines kills a civilian. They’re not perfect, but the people in charge usually want to do good things.

You mean the “Cover Me” incident. They returned fire when someone shot through a door at them.The only incident recorded, and thankfully no one hurt on either side. They use it in training today as a warning about battlefield communication.

Miranda only applies to criminal cases. Immigration is civil, which is why the court ruled Miranda doesn’t apply. The same applies to citizens: you have no “right to an attorney” in civil cases.
