Sometimes a phone pic looks like a painting for some reason. But no, it's just leaves.
A close up of a bunch of yellowish green leaves.

I have such a hard time deciding whether the B&W is good enough to delete the color, or vice versa.

I can post phone pics, right? I can post phone pics. I've been taking walks around town this month and realizing maybe I could go for a photo walk sometime, even if it's just to take pictures of flowers. Cliche, but cliche for a reason! It's fun!
Pink almond blossoms in full bloom.A red rose with dew on it, on a slightly dry stem.

Canary Wharf, London, July 2019.
A bridge spanning part of Canary Wharf during the early evening. The sides of the bridge are blue and there's a red tram/train on top. You can see sunlight reflecting on the glass-paned skyscrapers to the top right, and the shadow of the bridge in the water below.

Bonus me and Leish!
My friend Leish and I in Canary Wharf. I'm leaning against her, wearing a crop top (theirs) and low-rise jeans, and they're smiling widely, wearing a tshirt and highwaisted denim shorts.

A picture of two strangers I took when my friend was taking a picture with their phone. July 2019, somewhere near Canary Wharf I want to say, in London.
A black man and a black woman about a head shorter than him, wearing summer outfits and leaning against a fence, smiling for the camera -- but not my camera.

For 1/26, 26. Marseilles.
A church. I do not know which church, but it is for sure a church, with a white, flat façade and brick walls.

For 1/24, 24. Marseilles.
A view of a residential area with red-roofed houses around a road.A view of multiple old buildings framing, further out, more of the city, and ending in a castle atop a hill.

Working to catch up. Let's say this is for 1/23, 23. Me at the train station in Nice.
Color portrait of a femme-presenting person with pale skin and short brown hair, wearing glasses and a long, dark, flowy floral dress. The same picture in black and white.

Doing a bit of catch-up; haven't had the best week. More from Rabbit. [1/22, 22]
A glass in the shape of a rainboot, filled with a pinkish/orange cocktail. Some kind of salad with greens, cheese, and something red that I am uncertain -- maybe that's also beets?Smoked meat of some variety.Me! In black & white, sipping from my actual negroni (turns out the glass in the previous post was not that). I'm super pale, a little less thin that I am now, wearing a light floral dress that shows off some real nice cleavage.

This was from a personal folder, but I genuinely love it, so I'm sharing it with y'all (with their permission!). I am still hopeless at describing my friends, though, so the alt text is sparse. [1/21, 21]

Tapas lunch at Rabbit in London with my friend Pete -- 2019. (My backlog goes back three years further than this so this isn't even that long ago by that metric.) I kind of wish more restaurants had Bluesky accounts so I could tag them but I also don't, so.
A farmhouse style restaurant with a large window, green curtains flanking it, and rustic wooden tables and chairs. If I recall correctly these were beet sticks of some kind and guac and it was really good. Only time I've had beet in my life I think.I have no clue what this was. A circular flan-like thing on a black plate with almonds atop it.A short glass with amber liquid in it. Maybe a Negroni?

I think the only 'serious' (i.e. meant to look like a proper self-portrait and not just a selfie) pictures of me that I have taken remotely are NSFW, actually...

Particularly with photos that my mom takes for me, the amount of control I have over it is, uh, on the 'move her hands while she's holding the camera' level. Figure out where she needs to stand. All of it. (This is why she hates it. That and the fact that I did it a lot in public when I blogged.)

Another thing to point out is that most if not all of my self-portraits are actively shot by another person -- I'm not a fan of remote controls. I still consider them self-portraits (occasionally with a co-photog) because I adjust absolutely everything -- the settings, the angle, my pose, the light.

To be clear, I have color versions of almost all of my black and white photos, because I like color. Sometimes the B&W just looks nicer, or gets rid of the fact that my bedroom walls are painted green, which is very distracting.

Today is just going to be black and white portraits, I guess. Have another self-portrait, this one from 2021. [1/19, 19]
A white person with shoulder-length hair holding onto their neck and looking down, their hair falling like a cascade over their arm. You can see their glasses. They're wearing a dark, loose and flowy button-up shirt with pictures of tiny deer on it.

I know this picture is weird but I have a soft spot for it. It's so texturally satisfying to my brain. [1/17, 17]
A close-up of a beach, sand underneath a layer of water that ripples and distorts the image.

Catching up with some pictures from Barcelona, May 2022. One at a time because I'm behind. [1/16, 16]
Black and white portrait of a white person standing on a sidewalk. They're wearing a floral skirt and a dark crop top (you can see my nipples poking through it, yeah) and a small backpack, and leaning to one side. Their short dark hair is flowing a little.

Misc drinks in Košice. [1/15, 15]
Coffee with whipped cream in a tall wine glass.A Cosmopolitan -- red cocktail in a martini glass with a twist of orange on the rim.Presumably, some kind of bourbon in a glass that says Borec.A flight of beers -- the first one is fully black, the second a dark red, and the other three are descending levels of golden brown.

[cont'd] to make up for yesterday. Also that should have said Le Colonial, but I'm not redoing those alt texts.
Dessert! Raspberry something with vanilla ice cream -- look, it's been five years. Jesus Christ, it's been five years.A chocolate fondant with vanilla ice cream on the side, decorated with a sprig of mint.Me! Smiling happily and showing my wonky front teeth. Pale skin, short brown hair, black-rimmed glasses, wearing a dark navy sweater with little flowers, sitting in front of a window decorated with fairy lights.

Dinner at Le Coloniel [1/13, 1/14, 13-14] in Košice, Slovakia. One of my favorite dinners I've ever had.
A Christmas tree inside a restaurant.@rtwbarefootI can't remember EXACTLY what Nel had, but it looks like potato pancakes and some kind of meat with sauce over it.I do however remember exactly what I had, which is lamb wrapped in prosciutto with a wild mushroom sauce. It was incredible.

A follow-up today: a couple of photos of the restaurant itself. [1/12, 12]
The weirdest bathroom sink I've ever seen in my life, with the faucet up to the right and with a sort of dish beneath it, making the water fall kind of like a fountain. An arch behind a row of tables framing three shelves holding liquor bottles, lit from behind and built into an exposed brick wall.A glass of white wine in focus on a light-colored wooden table.

Makeup post for 1/10 (10). Barajas Airport around 8 PM, when most of my flights get in. (Or did, when I still traveled regularly. This is my sweet spot, scheduling-wise.)

Košice, Slovakia. December 2019. [1/9, 9] I am not used to snow; this may well be the first (and only) time I've ever seen it properly set.
A large snowflake decoration in a park. I'm standing in front of it, small to the side, wearing a coat and black gloves. The picture is in black and white. The framed mouth of an arched side street. I forget what these are called.A nighttime shot of naked branches covered just slightly in snow. The background is a dark blue and the snow covering is about the same thickness as the branch itself.A large expanse of snow-covered ground, ending in a wall of mostly leafless trees with visible snow upon them, too, and some lights from buildings behind them shining through.

More of Košice, December 2019. [1/8, 8]
The Cathedral of St Elizabeth, covered in snow.A look down a road in winter, with large trees on one side and buildings on the other and a small covering of snow.A vertical shot of a road turn, centering a street lamp. To the right, a white building next to a pale blue one. To the left, a pine tree with snow on it.A deep black and white shot of a road in Košice. A couple is in silhouette in the middle, walking down the street.

Košice, Slovakia, December 2019. [1/7, 7] This is going to take a few skeets. I really love the photos I took in this little city. One of my favorite cathedrals I've ever seen, and just such a beauty of a place.
A wide cityscape. You can see the tram rail on the ground, a tall yellow building to the right, some trees to the left, snowflake decorations along the top of the rail, and a red-roofed white building in the distance.Colorful houses in Košice. The top of St. Elisabeth's Cathedral. A beautiful Gothic church with a black clocktower protruding behind a turret, gilded in golden lines.Another angle of the top of St. Elisabeth's Cathedral in Košice. The sky is blue and there's sunshine on the beautiful light-colored walls of the building. (Can you tell I love this cathedral?)

Day 6, cocktails in Bratislava and Budapest. Too sick to remember which is which or from where, but they were good!
A cocktail served in a metal tumbler, covered in ice, two cherries across it on a stick, and a sprig of something green.A beige-hued cocktail in a tall glass with white foam on top and some florals.A clear cocktail with long, thin strip of cucumber swirling throughout the glass. The table it's on is striped black and white.Espresso martini, my beloved. I miss you the most. (I'm almost two years sober, but I would cheat for a proper espresso martini.)

It is no less pet photography just because they are my pets. Ciri, mostly 2022. [1/5, 1] I'm sick and felt like a cat Sunday.
A black and white shot of a small tabby kitten sitting on a playstation with her paws curled around her front.A color shot of Ciri, a small tabby, half curled-up, half sprawled on top of a bunch of notebooks and papers. I was, in fact, using those.Black and white Ciri through a window. Very moody.

Bratislava, Slovakia. December 2019. [1/4, 4] Some night shots! A castle, a tree and a skyline.
A wide shot of the Bratislava Castle taken at night. The castle is white with a reddish roof and is surrounded by a stone wall. The background is pure black.A cobblestone street in Bratislava at night, showing the lights illuminating outdoor seating under a canopy, as well as a decorated Christmas tree in the background.Skyline of Bratislava at night.

Budapest, December 2019. [1/3, 3] Everything else from Budapest is restaurants & food, which I will post as their own groups. This is once again cityscapes around the Danube, including the Parliament Building and the Elisabeth Bridge / Erzsébet híd.
The Elisabeth Bridge at dusk.A near-panoramic of the mostly gothic, beautiful Parliament Building from across the river. A black-and-white photograph of a road alongside the Danube, with a bridge in the distance and someone cycling down the path.An angled, dusky view of the Parliament Building in Budapest.

Barcelona, May 2022. [1/2, 2] I wish I could teleport to the ocean whenever I wanted, but here we are. For the record, I set up a Ko-Fi account at ko-fi.com/kivrin, and I wanted to point out that prints are always available on request.
My feet (there's more where this came from, if any freaks -- affectionate -- are interested) atop the sea current laving over the wet sand beach. My feet are pale and rosy and you can see the bottom of my blue dress.A seascape taken in Castelldefels, a town near Barcelona. A blue sky with wisps of white clouds, and the calm ocean bracketing the bottom of the shot, with an island far in the distance to the right.Green leaves. Pretty self-explanatory. Black and white close up of a rattan-inspired backpack lying on the sand.
