I think it would be really nice if atproto apps put a "resync" button somewhere to clear their caches and reload from PDS, but realize that might be exposing plumbing that people would rather wallpaper over.

Recently I directly pushed a bunch of records to my PDS and the apps that used them didn't see them. In one case, the app ignored my records on the firehose because I hadn't signed in to create my account yet. In another, the app watched creates but seemed to miss updates and/or apply-writes.

This interview with @timnitgebru.blacksky.app does a good job puncturing some of this BS. I think the private sector often profits off of just this sort of move: hiding ‘expertise’ behind proprietary doors and then making public claims that can’t be scrutinized is par for the course in business.

I went to a Vineyard church today. What a tightly-produced event! There was a clock on the back wall counting down to the end of the service and they hit it dead on. Great music, too, it was basically mainlined emotional manipulation. I could easily see how that place could be rife with abuse.

I think this might be because I'm batching my uploads with com.atproto.repo.applyWrites. When I test-uploaded a few cards with createRecord, they appeared. Thinking back, I probably did my original uploads (moving from Pinboard) with createRecord.
