August Hanning, the former head of German foreign intelligence services, has been arrested on extremely serious charges: espionage and the transmission of state secrets to foreign intelligence services. These charges would outline a grave betrayal: that of a state official who should have defended Germany's national security, not compromised it.

According to the Hamburg prosecutor's office, in 2023 Hanning would have organized, together with the former head of Shin Bet, Israel's internal security service, a team of Israeli agents tasked with forcibly abducting the children of a German billionaire.

But @andy.burnham ..the 6-9 months you are saying it will take to put said sanctions in place is a joke, when you can sanction Russia overnight. And we all know the UK has said these are "token" sanctions that has been stated will not affect Israel in the slightest. THIS IS NOT ENOUGH. Isr freaks out at the slightest thing. He started with statements they need to hear to calm them down. Then he firmly criticised them and told them to stop because the way they’re going, they’ll end up with nothing.
Quite a clever speech. Isr media will report it verbatim, they won’t interpret. Isr govt will be appeased because he said what they need to hear. They’re already hysterical and unable to think straight, they won’t get what he meant.
He warned about falling trust in politics. I presume we’re “the enemy”. He’s saying no one will be able to stop us. I think that’s right. Ed Miliband just said protests work.
