If that were true for everyone, you would have a point. Unfortunately, those with a need for medical intervention are funded, and those with e.g. alzheimers are not, necessitating the home sale. How is that reasonable or fair?

I have yet to come across a single example where reducing 'red tape' (i.e., regulations, oversight, or legal constraints) has improved anything for the end user. I would love to be proved wrong.

It's a bit pointless since I drive an EV. When is Google Maps gonna tell me charging price info (it is already available elsewhere)?

When you are rich, where you live isn't necessarily the same as where you spend lots of time. This is a good example.

Agreed, but it remains the choice of the Tories to go there, rather than highlighting the lack of policies by Reform in almost every area but immigration and crypto, & putting forward their own proposals. I'm not voting for Parties with no manifesto & I suspect I'm not alone.

I think the future provision of publicly funded care homes, making most private ones financially unsustainable, would be a fitting way to address the issue.

It's a distraction from the Tories' lack of costed policies & their continued unfitness for office.

I think we are moving into Trump/Truss/Johnson territory here. Just because KB says something, it doesn't mean it is important, relevant, accurate or even true. As with Trump & the others, the media needs to only report stuff we need to know, not the clickbait & barking mad stuff as well.

Majority decisions? Less than 200 people voted on the Zionism proposal, so a majority of 40 out of 200 is not a majority in a mass-membership organisation! It may be a majority of those voting, but it cannot be described as a majority decision, Harry.

There seems a very good case for a) the compulsory regulation & registration of all claims management companies, & b) the investigation of profiteering and collusion within the insurance industry between insurers and unregulated middlemen. Another case for Cory @doctorow.pluralistic.net

Every other political Party in Luton (not Reform Ltd obvs) should be saving this to remind voters what this character thinks & how well he knows his area, come future elections. As a great man once said: 'Twat!

Frankly, they could campaign on abolishing gravity in London, free unicorns for the self-employed and giving the power of flight to Party Members, and it wouldn't matter. Unless the UK starts mainlining hallucinogenics, they are not going to form a government in the near or distant future.

Whether he believes it or not, it simply isn't true. The police say it isn't true; local Christian groups say it isn't true; local Muslim groups say it isn't true. The headline should be 'Tory Shadow Minister tells racist lie'.

'serious savings on welfare' is another way of saying 'making the lives of the worst off deliberately worse'. Welfare should be the last area any decent country should consider cutting.

If ICE can legally arrest her, surely the USA needs to change its laws/system so that asylum applicants can't be arrested whilst compliant? This seems to happen so often on my feed; it's been 2 years, why hasn't a law change been proposed?

Classic old-school Conservatives were privately educated white men. I'm quite surprised* that a classic old-school Conservative doesn't know that. *not surprised by anything Badenoch does any more.

The Christianity angle makes me smile wryly. Jesus, apart from the religious angle, was a) a foreigner, b) didn't work and relied on the charity of ordinary people and c) hated violence. Everything Danno Tommo, Tommo Robbo Yaxo-Lenno, Nigeo Farro et al. profess to hate.

Earning a fortune is not the same as working harder. Most people on minimum wage work significantly harder than most MPs, yet Badenoch spends her time demonising them.

Comparing this with similar stories about the leadership of Corbyn, Starmer, and now Burnham helps (for me) highlight the difference in the treatment of the political Right and Left by most media, including the Guardian.

Isn't it past time when people assaulting staff can be banned as passengers/service users/customers? Even the NHS could set up clinics for those with life-threatening need, who have assaulted staff in the past, with additional security? The technology exists. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

Presumably, the cost of providing free childcare to people earning <£1000/day will be met by taking money from people on benefits? Party conferences are often useful to find out who most people are likely to vote for. It would seem the Tories are aiming for the rich, & the stupid who dislike £arage.
