I found old screenshots! Back when I played Eternal Return, I'd try to make it to late game and get rid of everything in my inventory to fill it with meat. Then I'd go into the final zone, hide in a bush, and start discarding the meat everywhere in front of my opponent. I would call it "Meat Quest"

it might not be perfect, but have you tried fiddling around with the interpolation method in the tool properties? If you can't find it in your tool shelf when rotating, you can also find it by clicking the wrench > image settings! Different modes work well for different types of art!
