The hard and fast rule for events is one bathroom per 65 people, per every 50 if there’s alcohol. As far as I can tell, the average for SF’s 4th of July was one bathroom for every 787 people. “ It’s almost like it wasn’t planned,” an event planner told me. More here www.kqed.org/news/1209051...

Over half of Muni’s 32-foot buses are currently out of service after the transit agency identified a brake component safety issue in the vehicles responsible for traveling some of San Francisco‘s most narrow and hilly streets.

The U.S. DOT is no longer enforcing disparate impact protections under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The rule change happened over one day with no public comment. Local leaders and transit equity advocates are expressing alarm.

The cameras gave out over 140,000 warnings, or just over 3,600 a day, to speeding drivers in their first 38 days of operation. These accounted for just 1.5% of all drivers in Oakland. At one site the average speeder went 19 mph over the limit. Cameras start ticketing Sunday.
