The first game wins out for me. I understand that those desiring more challenging combat will find a lot to like in the sequel, but if I didn't have rewind on PS5, between overwhelming enemy numbers and platforming peril, I'd have quit. Handles weapons better and head removal is a highlight.

Together with @novatheartist97.bsky.social, I experienced an artistically ambitious world, fully realized. The game offers more flexibility in role management compared to Hazelight's co-op games. It's a game that doesn't overstay its welcome and has a few epic set pieces.

Still a game I adore, and my favorite Xenoblade. Glad to see it with a glow-up. Used this revisit to go into New Game Plus (again) to finally S-Rank every Rare Blade. It was quite the undertaking... We'll see if that changes when I revisit XC3 for its Switch 2 Edition.

The archaic continue system deterred me from sticking things out on Normal. While playing on Easy, it felt like I never fully learned the combat. I didn't know about Metroid-Prime style enemy bios until a viewer clued me in. Apart from those things, a solid experience with cool boss ideas.
