It not perfect, but the project is finally out of "alpha" and in a playable form. Its not perfect, but its in a stage where I need to get it out there and gather feedback. Its designed from the ground up to be its own biodome- the decks are reasonably playable outside of it with some tweaking.

Took me a year and a half to get out of my own head and move to a different color pair. But Grixis Marchesa FINALLY gave me the out I needed. Its a sorta mix of Aristocrats, aggro, and Control but...I got there. After nearly 3 years, its finally done.

I needed every commander to do something for the morphs. I tried to make a TON of things work. Megatron (the extra mana giving them wiggle room to get and flip morphs), Malik as a theft/Edict deck that'd take other peoples morphs, Mardu Squall as a damage increaser...nothing clicked.

I needed a 4th to complete the set,and did NOT want to go with Missy or Animar. Missy has a rather...unhealthy interaction with Morph for the power level I wanted this at, and Animar was decidedly too efficient for the pod. I was *obsessed* with making Mardu Morphs work.

I would spend the next year or so in the idea stages- I was *dead* set on having as much color variance as possible, and that just wasn't there at the time. I had to wait for Duskmourne, which gave us DSC Zimone. I now had Landfall/Manifest Dread, Aggro/Disguise, and traditional Morph control.

2024's early set, Murders at Karlov Manor, gave me the starting piece- I had already LOVED my Kadena deck, but was gradually falling out of favor with it so Kaust offered an Aggro take that opened my eyes. I had decided then that the unifying theme would be "face-down mechanics."

I wanted the pod to have a central theme- one thing the decks could all execute differently. I also wanted the decks to feel equal power wise- I didn't want to brew something that had one "solved" commander and a handful of "working" ones. I needed it to be more varied and fun.

Damn near since the start of playing commander, I've loved its inherent self-expression centric approach. Where *what* you choose to use is more important that winning, doing the cool thing is more important than hitting the infinite, and you can play with cards you love. So I started there.

Alas, my AuDHD would make actually getting there at a proffessional level...difficult, if not impossible. I know my challenges and limitations- I don't see it being feasible with my current mental health struggles. But I CAN use Magic as a vehicle for that drive.

I don't speak of it much, but I want to get this out there. One of my big interests is game design. Not strictly development, but design. Fully making a game environment and rule set is fascinating to me. I'd love the opportunity to make something people can really dive deep into and get joy from.

My less pertinent but still format relevant thought: I think it'd help the system to add something about "GC quality" cards that aren't actually GCs but are within the context of a specific commander. Cards that don't just synergize, but provide a similar kind of value to one.

The language we've seen in the communication around the format since WOTC take over has read very...dodgy wrt bans at all. I felt more confident in the possibility of bans before the handoff.

My largest concerns are kinda two sides of the same coin: One being that unbans seem to be happening less on the "format health" angle and more on the "okay for higher bracket" angle. The other is that bans of any sort feel next to impossible to happen atp.
