Maybe instead of confidence I’ve got increased paranoia. “I need to learn to draw faster or it’ll take forever to draw longer manga when I wanted to” It’s a hyperbolic thinking pattern I need to get out of. But you may be right, I need to try something different.

It does help maintaining consistent creative output I think. Being more willing to just doodle out whatever’s on mind in the moment means holding back less on ideas. I should do that more.

If you don’t mind something chinese and sailing the high seas a little, check out False Memory. Very recent, just ended, 7 episodes. People compare it to FLCL a lot which I’ve never watched, but this one struck a chord in my soul. A bit abstract, great emotions, ost, and absurd action sequences.

I wonder if the burnout is the result of me dwelling on how fast I can draw something. In retrospect forcing myself to spend no more than 30mins per character lineart drawing is kinda nuts, I think. Heck, finishing within 45 minutes should be considered a luxury. I should make peace with that.
