The knife was sticky in my hands, blood soaking my palms.

Cold, grey eyes watched me with interest. As if I were a simple cell beneath a microscope.

The knife was a test.

Was I predator or prey?

He tilted his head to the side as I hesitated, sweat rolling down my temples, dripping onto my bare shoulders.

He gestured to my arm. Patient. For now.

I took a deep breath, death clinging to the air and I didn't dare look around. The others had refused.

They had been reaped with the very blade I held in my hand.

'I want to live forever'

For once, something in the universe listened. Some being that smelled potential suffering and torment.
My want was granted. A sentence whispered on a
whim became destiny.

I wanted in that moment and that moment would
last forever. Forever after every loved one had drawn their last breath. Forever after the ocean dried and the earth claimed the plague that was humanity.

I lived. I saw. I wept.

I begged for forever to end.

If I ever am blessed with sons, I hope I never have to see them off to war. My stance on war mongers is that if you're so trigger happy and believe so strongly in your cause, you should make your way to the battlefield as well. Live and die by your own ideals. Some people are only brave in safety.

Normalize being kind to yourself. I realized I have so many negative things to say to myself about every aspect of my being. But then my partner said "Don't bully my love". That stuck with me. He loves me and has to listen to me be so mean about myself. Now, I'm trying to be kind to me for us both.
