Grandma Anisa spoke Dutch at home, but Mama Anisa speaks Javanese cuz she was born after Independence Anisa speaks Indonesian cuz she was born in Jakarta

I don’t have the exact details but a great number of Indonesian words are borrowed from Dutch. Also, some of the more privileged Javanese like Grandma Anisa went to colonial Dutch schools. She went to a “kweekschool” (teacher’s academy) in East Java and sat w Dutch students
