Aidan Steele @awsteele.com · 03/03/2025I also tried that, out of desperation, but to no avail. I now suspect it’s referring to this pin button available when long-pressing a link - but this button only appears in other conversations (iMessage) and not this one (SMS). 010
Aidan Steele @awsteele.com · 03/03/2025For the life of me, I cannot figure out what “pin to show in Airbnb” means in the iOS messages app. Tapping the link loads the listing in the app. Long-pressing the message yields nothing relevant and tapping the CTA itself does nothing. 130
Aidan Steele @awsteele.com · 04/01/2025For some incomprehensible reason Instagram has added pregnant capybaras to my search screen. That’s clearly not the kind of content I came to instagram for 😂 0110
Aidan Steele @awsteele.com · 16/12/2024How long should I wait before following up on some missing international mail? My passport was apparently in Dublin over two weeks ago. No updates on the Irish side and not trackable by Aus Post. 5140
Aidan Steele @awsteele.com · 14/12/2024That might be flowdog. I guess it’s *kinda* related because I made “flowdogshark” as part of that. github.com/aidansteele/... 040
Aidan Steele @awsteele.com · 28/11/2024It seems the AWS Lambda console and the Kinesis docs disagree on the set of required permissions for a x-acct enhanced-fanout subscriber. This[1] doc says one thing, this[2] says another and the console says a third. [1]: docs.aws.amazon.com/streams/late... [2]: docs.aws.amazon.com/streams/late... 040
Aidan Steele @awsteele.com · 26/11/2024Today I learned that AWS Lambda will only perform automatic de-aggregation of KPL-formatted records when reading from an "enhanced fanout" Kinesis consumer. Apparently the Kinesis docs are unaware of this: they claim that functions need to de-aggregate KPL records themselves. 130

Aidan Steele @awsteele.com · 04/06/2023In my case, the regular wall outlet in Australia is 240v so I charge it using the standard plug in my garage. It charges at 8km/h, which more than covers my usage. Next year I’ll move house and won’t be renting, so I might spend AU$1500 on the 11kw charger. 100
Aidan Steele @awsteele.com · 17/05/2023I mean all you have to do is implement a HTTP server that can send this kind of response. You could shell out to an arbitrary program and pipe its stdout (reformatted into JSON) to the HTTP response stream 110

Aidan Steele @awsteele.com · 01/05/2023This is the dogs’ favourite spot to catch the morning sun. Archie only likes the dog bed, Missy only likes the chair. But they clearly both love jumping on the window when birds fly past 050
Aidan Steele @awsteele.com · 26/04/2023Lunch breaks are different when working from home. My colleagues have much less to say about their plans for the long weekend. (Alt text input seems broken on iOS: the keyboard completely obscures the input field and I can’t see what I’m typing) 150
Aidan Steele @awsteele.com · 25/04/2023Oh yeah, I didn’t even think about that. If it’s something DERP-y then it’s probably not viable. If you’re building a GitHub Action that means you are running code on the runner - you could determine the Azure region from the metadata service like this? 100
