Still taste good, though

Wanted to try a YouTube cake mix cookie recipe but the only mix I had on hand was yellow cake which meant I had to jazz it up, so shabbat shalom from me and my cookie sandwiches with chocolate ganache, almond, and sea salt filling

Wish I could've posted this at my usual time but I've been bedeviled by computer issues!! Wednesday 100: Forward and Back

There are so many things Claire has wanted to forget yet hasn't entirely been able to, so many things that she's needed to box up and shove away so she can possibly continue onward — blank eyes and warm, pouring blood and the bangs and whimpers of death.

She thinks that all of this — the confusion of this rough, insensible place, the Frank who wasn't, the obvious distance from home — will be something to box away too. But as the injured Scot…as Jamie holds her close and tucks her warm, a part of her says, "Remember. You must remember this.”

I was like "what to do, what to do for this week?" so anyway here's a Faith lives #Wednesday100 drabble ft. Jamie doing baby-wearing and also having a touch of PTSD

Wednesday 100: Security

People stare — what man wears a babe wrapped and bound to his body? — but Jamie doesn't care.

He could leave Faith with Jenny and Mrs. Crook when Claire is off physicking, and he does sometimes, but for jaunts to the village, reviewing accounts, or visiting crofts, the baby is strapped to him more often than not.

Jenny thinks it odd too, but she wasn't there when his body heat seemed the only thing that might bring the bairn through the night. Now, even as their lass grows stronger, he likes feeling her heartbeat echoing, constant and healthy, against his own.

Wednesday 100: Conversation

Claire likes the way that Mummy's always talking to her, like she's a grown girl, someone important. Even while Claire kneels on the floor, spreading a blanket over a chair to make a cave, Mummy is recounting what she's doing, what their plan is today.

"—and after we've tidied up, we'll visit the bookshop for my—oh!"

Claire looks up, startled, but then relaxes. Mummy is opening the note that Daddy tucked, with a wink, beneath his breakfast plate. She smiles at whatever he's written, and Claire likes that too, Mummy and Daddy always talking in their own special way.
