Moving forward, I predict that Tidal will exclusively push two types of music: 1) AI-generated audio, for which they don’t need to pay royalties at all. 2) Music owned by the multi-millionares and billionaires who have a stake in the business. And while we're on that subject... who owns Tidal?

We only know this because a Norwegian newspaper obtained a hard drive of internal data and handed it over to digital forensics experts at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology for analysis. News report: www.dn.no/staticprojec... Digital Forensics Report: www.dn.no/staticprojec...
Digital Forensics Report NTNU
Executive summary
Dagens Næringsliv (DN) approached the Norwegian University of Science and Technology
(NTNU) to investigate whether some data manipulation had occurred in various log files in
its possession. DN advised they are in the process of investigating what it suspected to be
the fraudulent manipulation of data in the database of a music streaming service and sought
cross-validation on this hypothesis.
The NTNU was asked to investigate whether there was in fact manipulation of the data,
and if so, the scope, methodology, and location of this manipulation. DN suspected there
had been manipulation of data due to a spike of user records within specific time periods, but
did not provide any further details as to why they determined the data to be manipulated
and the methods by which it occurred.
Using advanced statistical analysis of the data provided by DN, NTNU determined that
there had in fact been a manipulation of the data at particular times due to the large presence
of similar duplicate records occurring for a large percentage of the userbase that was active
at any given time. In reviewing the data, in isolation from any other records or logs, it was
not possible to determine the exact means of manipulation; however, the absence of records
with unreadable data suggested it was not an external Structured Query Language Injection
(SQLi) vector based attacked, but rather manipulation from within the streaming service
itself. Due to the targeted nature and extent of the manipulation, it is very unlikely that
this manipulation was solely the result of a code based bug or other system anomaly.
The following analysis shows in detail why this conclusion is the most likely conclusion
and further, the nature and extent it is suspected that the manipulation has affected the
accuracy of the data.

For those interested in behind the scenes #YouTube stuff, here you can see the bump (around day 20) that came from changing to a more legible thumbnail. CDs beat cassettes and clearly "you will own nothing" is a more popular slogan than McLuhan's old mantra. Video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vjso...
Youtube analytics showing 124.5K views, and a line that starts going up dramatically after 20 daysYoutube thumbnail test showing 3 options, one with a cassette that reads "the medium is the message", one with a CD that has the same slogan, and one (the winner of the test) with a CD that says "YOU WILL OWN NOTHING"

If you're still using #Google search for some reason, note that #DuckDuckGo now has a filter to hide AI-generated images (or at least attempt to). This is something Google could easily implement, but of course they WANT to serve you endless Gemini slop.

6. The Chaos Machine by @max-fisher.bsky.social Many writers have chronicled the rise (and result) of social media but by rooting it solidly in psychology – both that of individuals and groups – Fisher manages to weave a clear narrative through the chaos. A stand-out work. #books #booksky 📚

basically ender's game
CHILDREN surround an interactive world map, watched by a a SCIENTIST and a stone-faced AGENT with sunglasses

CHILD: i think i'll blow up... san fransiscoooo!
CHILDREN: yaaaay!
SCIENTIST: BUT WHY? you're supposed to be fighting the ruskies
AGENT: doctor. please don't disrupt the game.
SCIENTIST: but they're playing it all WRONG!
AGENT: doctor, these are some of the most intelligent children in the world. their strategies may seem random to you and me, but we have to trust that they know what they're doing.

YOUNG JAKOB: sir?
AGENT: yes child?
YOUNG JAKOB: this isn't one of those situations where you tell us we're playing a game... but actually we're remote controlling countless armies and missiles... is it?

AGENT & SCIENTIST: ...
SCIENTIST: hahaha of course not!
AGENT: that would be silly. now get back tot he game!

The CHILDREN watch, excited as the missile approaches san fran with a "beep beep beep" and finally a "boop" as the dot on the map lights up. The CHILDREN cheer as YOUNG JAKOB looks up at the AGENT, whose eyes are overflowing with tears behind his sunglasses.
