I live in a walkable neighborhood, yet there are less than 50 people living within a mile of me. I walk to the garden to get veggies, walk to the chicken coop to get eggs, walk to the pasture to see the sheep and walk from my tiny house to the shared kitchen to have dinner with my friends.

This is also what Ceausescu did in Romania in the 80’s because he wanted to pay down Romania’s foreign debt.

Are the magas now making the kind of degrowth arguments and policies that the green left could never dream to get away with ? Decrease trade? Buy and make local stuff ? Trump is basically acting like Ceausescu in Romania in the 80’s. He got to a trade surplus (with gas and food rations)

Who would be the House republicans most likely to switch parties to get the Democrats in control of the house? It seems like a fantasy but it could be the only way to have some impact on tariffs if things get a lot worse ?

Haven’t been here for a while! Today we gathered leaves to prep the garlic beds. The other day we prepped other garden beds with wood chips. How is gardening blue sky going these days ?

Ioan @awareness.bsky.social · 13/05/2023

We did a fuck around and find out experiment with some wood scraps the other day and now we have a multi level bridge over the creek and a beaver dam analogue

Garlic update chain with red wine caps growing in the same bed. Now we have mycelium running the whole length of the bed

Ioan @awareness.bsky.social · 03/05/2023

Wow that’s massive! That’s a CSA size garlic bed. I’m Sort of forking the chain to brag about the red wine caps that popped up right next to our garlic bed

Just saw a big coyote running back into the woods when I went to give compost to the chickens. I hope he wasn’t smelling the new baby lamb across the pasture. The sheep look chill and undisturbed though and Rocket the high drama llama is ready

Is there a farm cluster on blue sky? Will it magically appear if I post cute pictures of newly born lamb?

I made an unwitting offering to the crow spirits yesterday. I picked up the egg harvest for the day (9 eggs) while I was giving @ronent.bsky.social and his partner a tour of the farm and I forgot them on top of the feed barrel. When I came back in the evening I found only two cracked ones left.

Are there any sauna extremists here ? I have been playing with our wood fired sauna and it’s kind of fun to push the temperatures. I managed to get the fire to last all night so I had a bedtime sauna and then a morning sauna without any effort

I have been looking for my flock and following humans and horses around. But now finally this seems more like my people
