Moral Rot - all of them.

Stop. You are not helping, reading the uninformed, inane ideas you are giving is extremely unsettling. I recommend you gather legitimate resources & knowledge before considering ever saying this to any member serving.

Please stop with your "ideas", none serve any purpose whatsoever. You're making it worse for anyone currently serving when reading this. I was that young person decades ago & even now late in life I know there is no simple answer, particularly uninformed opinions from those who never served.

And Americans treated those returning from Vietnam wonderfully right? /sarcasm/

Acknowledge this, but this means squat for those serving.

Conscientious objector is a religious exemption, will not stand, why did they enlist in the first place. Again, you are misinformed.

Im a 65 year old Veteran woman who served 20 years. When I was 19 years old I wouldn't have answers & resources, just like current military. None of your responses provide aid or appropriate deciding factors. Again, the disconnect is glaring. Are you aware of how many are currently serving?

Correct.

A young service member with a spouse & young child, lives in base housing Fort where ever, asks you "what do I do". My unit is ordered to deploy to a major U.S. city & I cannot do it. Where do I go, where does my family go, we are alone in world. I want to serve, I have no resources, what do you say

You are not telling me anything, I despise all of them. My argument is how do you understand how a young military member would effect action? The disconnect of the average American who never served (93%) is huge. I refer you to the way Vietnam vets were treated in '60's & '70's.
100
Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 17/06/2025
Nor do I. What I despise is that 93% of Americans have no idea what it means to serve. What options are available to service members. What its like for that young person. Im a woman, enlisted at 17 & served 20. Quote from another reply: "Why don't they call in sick"? So clueless.

You do realize you're talking to a 20 year Veteran woman right? So yeah I've got experience & opinion on this.

Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 17/06/2025
You do realize the Navy is a branch of the military right?

Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 17/06/2025
So?

Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 17/06/2025
I enlisted 77, I know. They will get all the others.

Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 17/06/2025
They fired the JAGC, but sure that kids gonna do that, even know how.
020
Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 17/06/2025
So you're on a ship, mutiny then? How would you do that?
110
Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 17/06/2025
Oh goody, can you tell me how that would happen on a Navy ship? Oh, a young soldier forward deployed out of country, what do they do? Who's going to educate them on what's illegal & what isn't? Why were orders allowed in the entire chain of command? Let's hear it.
120
Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 17/06/2025
How long did you serve? Tell me how & what orders are illegal? You think every servicemember has a JAGC on speed dial? That phone number to call isn't gonna do shit for that kid. Maybe you can tell them "to call in sick" which is a response I've gotten. You're clueless, shame on you.

Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 17/06/2025
Exactly, that's me in front in my pic. The astounding ignorance on how the military operates, what our service members do everyday, the military is NOT a democracy.. My favorite is "Why don't they call in sick". WTAF - the disconnect is huge!

Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 17/06/2025
Reenlistment & recruiting. I've been telling MAGA idiots since the election what's going to occur - loss of military members who have honor, women, LGBTQ. How will they fill the ranks? I know what I surmise, GOP controlled 3 branches is all they need to reinstate a draft.

I served 20 years Navy so you have the right to burn the American flag, to protest, to speak out, to kneel. 1st Amendment in the document I swore to support & defend.

Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 10/06/2025
I was using an example, as in mutiny. You're right, there's this group called Joint Chiefs of Staff, all 4 star flag officers from each service, decision time. Our military is not a Democracy its a top down only hierarchy.

Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 09/06/2025
Think about those onboard Naval vessels as well. How exactly would rank & file execute their dissent on the order? I spent 20 years serving & realize 93% of the U.S. has no clue wrt military service & find random comments about honoring oath being arbitrary & lacking nuance on exactly what is needed
100
Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 09/06/2025
How exactly is the private Corporal, sargent etc. expected to execute not obeying? Why has the COCOM accepted order & not resigned? How would a young military member even have a plan, forethought or ability to not obey when unit deployed?
100
Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 09/06/2025
If uniformed leadership, nationally & state level do not object to unlawful orders; how would unit level leaders & an expectation that young, junior rank & file can or will do what leadership will not, is unrealistic.
110
Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 09/06/2025
Perhaps you should Honor your previous Oath & take care of things, no different than your expectation for the lowly private right? Stand by your words, do something about what's occurring, you took the same Oath correct?
000
Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 09/06/2025
Block me then. You do need to take Civics, perhaps when they reinstate a draft you'll have someone you care about impacted & stop spewing ignorance.

I consider this, if I had a child or grandchild serving & they were confronted with a decision, what would I tell them? Truly, I don't have the answer & I have given hours of thought to it. Desertion? Mutiny? Knowing the effects of the decision to say NO, I don't have answers.
010
Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 09/06/2025
Perception on your part. OK, if you had a child or grandchild serving right now - what would you tell them to do? What options would you tell them they have & how to accomplish those actions?
100
Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 09/06/2025
Answer is non-answer. Decades existing & you cannot provide succinct info except phone # indicates it's complex. I myself go round & round I was Navy - mutiny, Miss ships movement, decision at another time? Horrible they are being put in situation & no one can answer even with military experience.

Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 09/06/2025
I'm 65. Just would like an honest answer. What would you do exactly? Go AWOL, sit home with family? I'm on a naval vessel - do I mutiny. Seriously, what actions do you expect these NG to do to effect their disobeying an order. Can you tell me what your specific actions would be in this situation?
140
Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 09/06/2025
Ok, so your unit is ordered to the streets in LA, what would you do?
110
Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 09/06/2025
What did you do, go awol? Stay in your barracks or home ? Did you show up next day or not at all? Did you discuss with your fellow unit members? How did your spouse handle? We're you put in brig when you returned to be discharged with dishonorable?

Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 09/06/2025
Huh?
100
Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 09/06/2025
So they sit in barracks till its over? Run off & try to disappear. Be AWOL upon return, shot? It's a complex situation. Why weren't the orders challenged at a more senior level?
100
Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 09/06/2025
How? Think a young private or Corporal in unit, how do they do that?
000
Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 09/06/2025
Why did those in chain of command above CO allow it? It's a much bigger issue, beyond the unit itself. I know you understand what's going on in the heads of the members of the unit. Retired Navy enlisted mtself.
000
Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 09/06/2025
Why are Senior leadership well above unit complying? There's a chain of command. The private would stay home, stay in barracks perhaps, then what?
100
Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 09/06/2025
Who, all members of unit the private, the Sargent, the corporal - the lowest troops? The Co, their superior etc? How would the private do this exactly? See what I'm talking about?
100
Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 09/06/2025
Can you elaborate? Have you served? Honest questions. What would be your options as a young military member when unit is ordered? What are the processes, actions.
000
Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 09/06/2025
Can you share what you think the options are for a young military person whose unit is ordered there? What exactly are they supposed to do? How would they disobey, what are the steps? Are they in barracks? What would you do as a young military member?
100
Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 09/06/2025
How exactly does a young soldier effect "not following orders"? Yes I'm a veteran, career & have been thinking on this non-stop. I was that young 18 year old, Hell I'm constantly thinking on it when I was later in my career. I.e., Navy ship, I'm crew - what does a member do? Honest question for you.

Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 09/06/2025
Retired Navy here. What exactly would you do as a young Army enlisted & your unit was ordered to "peacekeeping" duties? How exactly would you disobey & put into effect? Honest question.
110
Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 09/06/2025
There is really nothing they can do. That's what those who never serve don't understand. First off the unit is ordered, many are very young people. There is nothing taught. It's a Pandora box. So many think its something simple, but its not.
010
Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 09/06/2025
Curious, what would your actions be if your unit was ordered to do this? What exactly would you do? I am retired career enlisted SCPO, thought ling & hard on this & honestly regardless of where I was in my service - think how to effect. Think especially about the younger serving.
110
Reader @avid-reader86.bsky.social · 09/06/2025
If you were a young 18 - 20 year old; honestly do you think you'd have experience, knowledge & fortitude to disobey? I am a 20 year retired E8 & I've thought long & hard on this & still don't have answer for myself let alone young military.
