Man. Sad remarks from a director of SCOOB! HOLIDAY HAUNT, the third completed movie WB cancelled for a tax break on a post about Pam Abdy and Michael De Luca's ouster, saying they were responsible along with Zaslav for shelving the movie and Abdy only called him after the news leaked on Twitter.
Hey let's not pour salt on the wounds, it's tough all over.

mkurinsky: absolutely not. i have struggled both financially and with my mental health since they cancelled my movie. They will leave with lucrative exit packages. I was let go from WB told that there was no longer a place for me there after 7 years. No exit package. They deserve a little salt.mkurinsky: she, Michael Deluca and David Zaslav were the ones directly responsible for the decision to shelve Batgirl and SCOOB Holiday Haunt. They WERE Warners pictures at that point and that was one of their very first decisions in their new positions after Discovery bought WB. And I wasn't told to my face. I found out on TWITTER first. Then by phone call. All I said was "it hurts, doesn't it" .... Because it does.

A Choose-Your-Own-Adventure STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS comic sounded like fun, though I set it aside for a bit after hitting several quick, fatal endings. But the book, by @ryannorth.ca & @chrisfenoglio.bsky.social, asks a bit more of you than simple page-flipping to get to what's really going on. Cool!
Book cover for STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS - WARP YOUR OWN WAY, featuring four illustrated characters in their Starfleet uniforms seemingly freefalling, panicked, against a background of pathways and a few un-contextualized images.

The dystopian Love Island-ish reality show of Aisling Rawle's THE COMPOUND only has to modestly push the actualities of such shows to unsettle deeply. The book is narrated plainly by Lily, a contestant of beauty & few practical skills but determination for the rewards out of reach in her real life.

I highly recommend hitting up THE RIVALS OF AMZIAH KING at a theatre while you still can. It basically splits right in half narratively and while I have some thoughts to offer about the second half, it remains a very compelling film and I'd love to have more people to talk to about it! 🐝🐝🐝

I quite enjoyed THE SAMURAI AND THE PRISONER, Kiyoshi Kurosawa's new film about a samurai whose increasingly shaky rule over his castle is tested by a series of mysterious deaths that is also in essence 4 episodes of a mystery procedural where the prisoner in his basement helps him solve the crimes.

Who knows if anything about the movie tested well, but what he was talking about was seeing how the sex/nudity was playing in the test screenings and the feedback cards they get back with the audience comments. Here's the interview link so you can read the full context: variety.com/2026/film/fe...
There was so much nudity in this movie that we shot on the streets. I felt we needed to show the world that way. As we started to show it to audiences, we felt it takes you out of the movie. You’re engaged in the characters and what’s going on, and then you pan over and there’s two naked people having sex, and you watch the audience … it’s a physical thing. They turn to who they’re with and … the benefits do not nearly outweigh the negatives of it. So we just kept editing it out until we got a balance, and those comments went away.

Not to be overlooked (and apparently not addressed):
One woman questioned the mission and said she found it difficult to be proud of her sailor when she believed the military was “killing innocent civilians” and her sailor expressed guilt about what he was doing. Her comment was met with applause from the audience.
