Yes, it is built on Edge, unfortunately. The change was part of the patch 7.21

As the launcher has been adjusted to accommodate WebView2, players must install Microsoft Edge WebView2. This may already be installed for many players, but certain Windows® 10 configurations will require a separate installation. The installation will commence upon opening the launcher for those who do not have it installed already.

If you're having trouble getting past the launcher, try this! It was suggested by a friend of mine in my discord server and so far it's worked for everyone having trouble

Image says: "If you have having nothing on your ffxiv launcher follow these steps, and yes they are really dumb. Open Windows Settings, go to Apps, installed Apps, and look for Microsoft Edge. Click the (...) and use Modify/Advanced option and repair it. It should fix and yes this is the most dumb thing for the launcher to be hung up on"

Fire - The most tangible of all visible mysteries. [BURN] Her father still finds ways to haunt her. As a child, he'd take her prized possessions and throw them into the fire. Now the fires he brings are more dangerous and deadly, taking shelter and loved ones away. #miqomarch2026 | #AvenLore

By sword or spells, this conflict will end! [JOB/ROLE] Aveneline is a red mage main. Her swordsmanship was the only thing she picked up from her father. Her mother taught her various magicks. She used both to protect herself when alone and now to protect her friends. #miqomarch2026 | #AvenLore

Infinite possibilities condensed into a single moment. [FAVE RAIDS] Eden's Promise will always be one of my favorite raid tiers. It was the tier I started savage raiding for the first time and the story was so good! I still want to get through FRU at some point. #miqomarch2026 | #AvenLore

Very Nice. Comfortably below the 0.02 JND that the colour science people say is the limit. You'd make an excellent paint-chip inspector. Is that a job? It should be.

There is no better mirror than a best friend. [MIRROR] One of Aveneline's first friends was Ren Murasaki. They were both new to savage raiding in the same tier and in the same static. It's been a long time since Eden's Promise, but the friendship will never fade. #miqomarch2026 | #AvenLore

Don't forget to pamper yourself. [FREE DAY] Even Aveneline cannot resist the call of hot springs. It's a great way to unwind and allows her to be her most natural self. Even a WoL needs some down time to relax and rejuvenate. Combining Miqo March with trends lol #miqomarch2026 | #AvenLore

A fat cat is a spoiled cat. [FREE DAY] During her days wandering the streets of Ul'dah, she came across a fat cat who was eating trash. She took the cat in under the promise of more food and it's become her best furry friend. Sometimes, she is allowed to pet the tummy. #miqomarch2026 | #AvenLore
