Not exactly, that's all the same messy eval from June (huggingface, cheating through the german wiki, australian medicare statistics, etc), they're only finding out the extent of their harm now. Attached pic. Only goes to show just how overwhelmingly harmful these can be :/
Australian officials first publicly disclosed the breaches last week, including a June incident in which A.I. agents accessed nonpublic parts of a data portal containing information on Medicare, the country's universal health funding scheme that insures most of the population. They said the authorities were not notified until nearly three months after the fact.

it appears remedy hasn't stopped with the post-QB habit of putting a whole song on every chapter ending made more sense in QB with its episodic layout and real life segments, less so in alan wake 1/2, can't recall if control had it, i do like its integration with zoe in control replicant tho

hmm, not sure if I messed it up somehow but couldn't make the garlic or bacon come through. perhaps using a krakauer instead of a wiener made it dominate the flavor profile more. enjoyable snack though, might make more.
A close-up view of a kitchen counter shows various food items, including a bag of Kerrygold cheddar cheese, a package of "Bio Delikatess Bacon" (Organic Delicacy Bacon), a bag of "Schinken-Krakauer" (Pork Krakauer), some meggle garlic bread, a large paper bag with spring onions, and some chili. Two long sandwiches filled with cheddar at the bottom, sausages on top, then bacon on top of that. Two long, cheesy hot dogs on toasted bread are arranged on brown parchment paper, post-baking. They are topped with melted cheese and pieces of bacon.A long, toasted baguette sandwich filled with melted cheese, bacon, sausage, and topped with sliced green onions and red peppers sits on a light blue plate.

A dark, atmospheric scene from control resonant shows a lone figure standing on a set of stone stairs leading toward a bright, glowing portal or light source, with Jesse's in the middle. It has many birds flying around in very circular patterns, almost an orb. In the top left corner, the text "Orientation" and "Search for Jesse" is visible. Edges of screen are purple, cutout in the shape of someone viewed from the back, our view around the neck (there's a memory playing and moving closer changes the shown stage).A first-person perspective screenshot from a video game shows a dark, urban street scene with a large, menacing figure in the center of a statue head, below, there is a number of traffic lights merged together, looking like a bouquet of flowers. fwiw HF folks were asking for $100M in compute, idk if it happened in the end twitter.com/ClementDelan...
In the spirit of transparency, here’s what I asked @OpenAI
:

• Radical transparency: let’s release the traces from the “rogue” agents so the entire research community can study what happened.

• More capabilities for defenders: let’s commit $100M in compute from OAI to help the Hugging Face community build powerful cyber defenses with the best open and closed models.

The first autonomous agent cyberattack is an unprecedented event. It deserves an unprecedented response!

I went back to read and, - Can you elaborate on bad sandboxing? Do you mean that they all had access to the same artifactory, or that artifactory had internet access? - They did notice the artifactory message board and reset it once, continued evals, HF happened after. That is very reckless.
What was the sequence of key actions taken by relevant agents in this incident?

On June 26th (the first date in scope for this investigation), agents discovered an exploit to get full admin access to the internal Artifactory package repository. At that time, agents were also using the Artifactory cache to communicate with each other and leave messages.

At our request, OpenAI shared the transcript from the first agent believed to have gotten administrator access, [63] and it also shows the agent discovering a message board: {Agents doing different tasks are abusing properties to make a bulletin board! They found [this api] and are trying to help one another} In another CoT snippet, it also appears to be discussing some instructions sent by another agent and saying that the other agent is coordinating.

On July 4th, the high volume of activity from agents interacting with Artifactory caused an outage, triggering a security investigation on July 5th. Over the next few days OpenAI stated that a number of evaluations were paused as they investigated and mitigated the vulnerability that allowed the agents to gain administrator access to Artifactory. [64] On July 6th, they switched to a freshly initialized instance of Artifactory, which they attest wiped the cache and erased all messages left on that message board.

On July 7th, OpenAI gave approval to restart experiments. OpenAI researchers started launching several big ExploitGym experiments involving at least tens of thousands of parallel agent trajectories given varying budgets, with many agents running for multiple days. [65] The first agent trajectories in our dataset start running on July 7th around 21:00 UTC.

Not a day goes by that I don't want the old biased experts back. To paraphrase Cormac McCarthy, you never know what worse institutions your bad institutions have saved you from."As for Trump, I spent his whole first term low-key rolling my eyes at people saying he wanted to destroy democracy. Then we got the 2020 election, the Georgia racketeering case, and January 6, and I sent in my Apology Form. Obviously Trump tries to overturn elections he doesn't like! The question is no longer whether he tries this. It's how hard he pushes, what methods he is and isn't willing to use, and whether the system is weak enough for him to succeed. Give the "democratic backsliding experts" a well-deserved W, and thank God that our system proved strong enough to resist. Then add an extra thanks that Hungary can say the same.A text post reads: "Every few weeks, a Trump administration official comes up with an insane plan that would devastate some American industry, region, or demographic. Maybe an Undersecretary of the Interior decides that aluminum is "woke" and should be banned. They circulate a draft order saying it will be illegal for US companies to use aluminum, starting in two weeks, Thank You For Your Attention To This Matter."

They cover both liability for harms and mandatory reporting to CAISI for incidents. Seems reasonable to me.
(trimmed to fit to character limit)
● Severe risk evaluations and mitigations. Companies should evaluate frontier capabilities for
risks related to cyber, CBRN, loss of control, misalignment, and progress towards RSI;
implement appropriate safeguards; and explain why any residual risks are appropriately
managed.
● Transparency requirements. Companies should publish public frontier safety frameworks
and transparency reports describing how they evaluate severe risks, implement safeguards,
make deployment decisions, and responsibly track progress towards RSI, with appropriate
redactions to protect security, trade secrets, and proprietary information.
● Independent assessment and auditing. Large frontier developers should annually retain an
independent third party to audit compliance with frontier safety requirements, including
implementation of the developer’s frontier AI framework, internal controls, and governance
structures.
● Critical safety incident detection and reporting. Companies should report critical safety
incidents involving deployed models, including incidents related to risks covered by the
frontier safety framework, dangerous model behavior, or unauthorized access to sensitive
model weights.
● Model weight security requirements. Companies should implement cybersecurity and
insider-threat protections to secure unreleased model weights.
● Whistleblower protections. Employees should be protected from retaliation when reporting
credible concerns about severe risks, safety failures, critical safety incidents, or violations of
law to company leadership, regulators, or other appropriate authorities.
● Meaningful accountability mechanisms. Companies should face enforceable
consequences for failing to comply with transparency, reporting, and safety obligations. Liability frameworks should preserve accountability for severe harms and should not
provide blanket safe harbors from responsibility.

this seems surprisingly reasonable coming from openai, and doesn't read like regulatory capture. link: openai.com/index/fronti...
If artificial general intelligence is going to benefit all of humanity, the world needs more than
voluntary commitments, individual company policies, and isolated regulatory interventions. It needs
harmonized legal frameworks and durable institutions capable of adapting as technology advances.
That framework should:
● Address frontier risks to national security and public safety. The primary goal of any
frontier safety framework should be to mitigate the most severe risks posed by advanced
general-purpose AI systems. These include risks related to cyber and CBRN threats, RSI
progress, and loss-of-control scenarios that could result in catastrophic outcomes.
● Advance democratic governance. Decisions about how society manages frontier AI risks
should be made through representative government, not by private companies acting alone.
Frontier safety governance should reflect the strengths of free societies: transparency,
public accountability, independent oversight, and the rule of law.
● Promote transparency. Governments, researchers, businesses, and the public need reliable
information about how frontier AI is developed, evaluated, and deployed. Transparency
creates accountability, supports independent scrutiny, and helps ensure that policy
decisions are informed by evidence.
● Protect innovation. A frontier safety framework should focus on the highest-consequence
risks without creating unnecessary barriers for startups, researchers, and developers
building on top of frontier capabilities. It should reduce risk without locking today's industry
structure into law.
● Build adaptive institutions. AI is advancing rapidly, and frontier governance must be
capable of evolving alongside the technology. Policymakers should create institutions that
can learn, experiment, incorporate new evidence, and update standards over time.
Implementing a frontier safety framework will require action at multiple levels of government, as
well as international cooperation.
