Exactly right! I believe most governments could do with a more robust PR strategy to educated the uneducated without being ridiculous about it (like Tiktoks often are). The EU Commission does a few shorts on Youtube that I feel are both informational and concise - if only more did that...

I absolutely agree with your premise: these propagandists should be ignored until they fade into obscurity. But unfortunately the way to combat russian cognitive influence operations is through fact and institutional sources thereof. Fighting this level of grassroots manipulation is still very WIP.

Ah yes, Kashevarova. Can't wait for her to be right on one thing then twist it all around for the sake of her Kremlinite sugardaddy. *Reads three lines* Yep. "West is against us", "nato expansion", "threat to us" etc etc etc Russians panicking would be funny if only they weren't so fucking stupid.

The fact it happens in the same month of the same year makes it even more comically cartoonish than we thought was possible. Believe it. Russia really is an insane place.

It makes me furious how much work a.i. creates for people who don't want to use a.i. And it's not just about trying to avoid a.i. It's about people in pipelines using secretly using a.i. and then everyone else having to stop what they are doing to figure out why something looks completely wrong.

Let me ask you something: What are "traditional russian values" then? They mass deport people based on race, religion or gender, they use prison systems to generate free labour (slavery), they invade and try to colonise neighbours, they lie 99.9% of the time. They don't even hold real elections.

A Primer on Russian Cognitive Warfare
Russia is a key player in the cognitive warfare space. Russia has used cognitive warfare to facilitate its war in Ukraine.

Call a spade a spade, do not let them change it into "digging utensil". Do not use euphemisms when the word exists. It's not "unalive", it's kill. It's not "resistance fighter", it's militia. It's not "ukrainian separatists", it's kremlin-approved russian terrorists.

Cognitive Warfare, Informational Warfare, Economic warfare, Energetic warfare, Political pressure groups, agitprops, Kremlin-funded populists, communist and socialist parties with roots in russia - all of these are "active measures" (tools) they use to shape our understanding of the world.

The name isn't the issue, though a lot of russian-implanted concepts purposely use sterilised naming to downplay the seriousness. Disinformation, misinformation, propaganda are all tools of the russian war effort. The attacks originate locally too, at times, through their USSR remnants.

So what happens to Ukrainian strategic reserves held in Hungary now? Are they returned? Or does Hungary get to steal them and pretend it was theirs to begin with (just like the vans with Ukrainian money)?

Did that not happen already? I distinctly remember a drone or two that landed in Poland, killing a couple of people.

So did the majority of the Stasi. I think Putin, if anything, used what he learned in school against his peers and continued the USSR tradition of overthrowing the leader but with a sadistic, explosive flair and a lot of bureaucratic maneuvring.

That tracks yeah. Usually when we got our hands on some evidence or a inkling of evidence that could lead us somewhere, Israel swooped in with lawyers and whatevers going "this OFFENDS the families' right to privacy" while very clearly overstepping the limits of that claim just to yoink the material

Unironically reminded of T.S.Eliot's Prufrock "In the room The women come and go Speaking of Michelangelo" This isn't a dig at women, it's a dig at pseudointellectualism where people only talk about the greats and don't actually have anything to say about them LMAO

That's hella interesting I'll give it a read. ME isn't my area of expertise but from what I know from sometikes helping out with stuff in that area, it's usually the UN being deaf blind and mute, HAMAS actively putting others in danger and Israel being indiscriminate or not thorough enough.

Noway the pornguy reads books?? I don't like how people assume others are unidimensional... It feels icky. Did you find the book clarified a niche (but important) aspect of the conflict?

Trump's entire cabinet wears ill-fitting suits and dresses. The "put on a suit" was something Trump demanded of Zelenskyy before, so your statement was unclear at first. Thank you for clarifying!

People asking if something I wrote is AI makes me feel very malicious, like I ought to say that's a stupid question and insinuate that their intelligence is on the level of a common household sponge. It's not nice, but I feel like I have to shake it out of people's heads that anything can be AI.

Unironically miss the time of LAN parties when we dragged cheaters/hackers out onto the street and smashed their PCs. Real consequences for ruining everyone's fun and putting people's PCs at risk.

If this is the civil war restarting I wouldn't be surprised. The "govt" was an Assad-affiliated militia backed by the Turkish: two of the worst players in that conflict. Since taking power they've persecuted people and conducted religious and ethnic purges. They hunted the Kurds too.

So no, russian disinfo isn't potent or powerful. russia just has information (kompromat) on a lot of people from those regions thanks to the Stasi and having stolen all the documents before the collapse of East Germany. That's how they bent Schroeder and Merkel to their favour with Nordstreams.
