> LLMs are useful tools

xkcd 285. It deep it’s a politician speaking at a podium. In the crowd, a person holds up a sign with Wikipedia’s “[citation needed]” link

Well this page is live on apple.com/environment right now

Innovation is up.
Emissions are down.
We’re closer than ever to Apple 2030: Our ambitious, science-based goal to become carbon neutral across our global footprint. Our aim is to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by 75% compared with 2015, before balancing the remaining emissions — starting with nature-based solutions that adhere to rigorous international standards.

You can disable those or set it to "People I Follow" instead of "Everyone" under notification settings. Makes it slightly less terrible

As always,

Single panel comic. A stick figure labelled “you” shoots a laser gun labelled “bodyshaming” at “guy u don’t like but will never care”, which reflects off a shield and instead hits “person you care about with the same trait who now knows you think they’re ugly”

You’d think, but turns out the word *is* buttle

buttle
verb [no object] humorous
work as a butler: there is no one today worth buttling for.

Origin
mid 19th century: back-formation from butler.

Do YOU know what “buddy” means?

Screenshot of a dictionary definition for “buddy”. The third definition is highlighted and reads “used as a form of address to a man whose name is not known”

Note that this happened *after* a brief discussion about Lewis Carroll being "a bit of a nonce" where a loose translation from british english to american was given.

A political cartoon. It depicts “corporate media” asking Uncle Sam how he would like “control of internet speech” wrapped. The options are “anti-terrorism” and “protect kids”

Nah, as tumblr established in 2020, Knuckles doesn't understand pronouns (my headcanon is that the echidna didn't use pronouns in their language and so Knuckles was never exposed to them until he was an adult and the last of his kind) emirrart.tumblr.com/post/6191960...

A lineart comic.

Panel 1: Dr. Robotnik:"What are your pronouns"
Panel 2: Knuckles: "What's a pronoun"
Panel 3: Robotnik: "Indicative but not exclusive to your gender identity"
Knuckles: "Stop searing at me."
Panel 4: Robotnik: Can I refer to you as they/them?
Panel 5: Knuckles: but my name is Knuckles
Panel 6: Robotnik, yelling into his phone: Sonic what are the red one's pronouns?!
Sonic, through the phone: Oh we use he/him for him, he doesn't really care though

A Tumblr post by ubernegro. It reads:

It’s not considered political violence to dehumanize people until they’re so ostracized by society that they take their own lives. It’s not considered political violence to make policy choices to intentionally kill people by depriving them of life saving healthcare.

It’s not considered political violence to round up people and put them in concentration camps. It’s not considered political violence to fund ethnic cleansing and genocide. Very interesting what’s considered political violence and deemed unacceptable.

It definitely isn't considered political violence to annihilate the only housing that people have and push them even further into the cycle of poverty and destitution. Or to host certain people on a podcast and talk about how trans people are evil.

Seizing vulnerable women and abusing them in detention camps? Killing people by ending their life saving medical treatments? Not giving people medications in detention centers?

But sure political violence now has gone too far…

@mcchampionship.com When I try to enable notifications on mcc.live, the toggle switch greys out for a bit and then stays disabled. How can I fix this? If it matters, notifications are enabled for the site in my browser (Firefox 142.0.1 on macOS 15.6.1)
