The attack on our wild places just got real. The Trump administration has officially opened the public comment period on a plan that would gut the Roadless Rule and put millions of acres of wildlands on the chopping block. This is an assault on the wildest places left in our national forests — from the natural springs Ocala National Forest in Florida to the redwoods of California and the old-growth forests of the Tongass in southeast Alaska. These are landscapes where nature still thrives on its own terms: where towering trees filter clean air and water, where wildlife can roam and swim freely, and where people can still find quiet and connection. But these places are rare and shrinking. More than half of our national forests are already crisscrossed by roads, logging, and development. What remains of our roadless backcountry is a lifeline — for biodiversity, clean water, climate resilience, and for future generations. For 25 years, the Roadless Rule has protected 58 million acres of these wild public lands across the country. It’s one of the strongest, most popular conservation safeguards we have. Now the Trump administration is working to roll it back, putting some of our last, best wild places at risk of road-building, logging, and exploitation. To stop this, we need a public outcry as strong as the movement that defeated the public lands selloff.Comment here: https://action.outdooralliance.org/a/roadless-1 (also linked in our stories and in Outdoor Alliance’s bio)Rolling back these protections isn’t about “access.” It’s about opening the door to logging, mining, and roadbuilding in some of the wildest, most ecologically important places left. We’ve stopped attacks on public lands before. Remember the massive outcry when politicians tried to sell off our public lands? That same level of public pressure is what it will take now to halt this assault on our roadless forests.Raise your voice today. Share this action. Tell the administration: Our roadless forests are not for sale.👉 https://action.outdooralliance.org/a/roadless-1 (link in bio on IG)
