Fatespeaker visiting Wishful's shop! She sells a lot of trinkets that she either finds, makes, or trades. #wingsoffire #wof #dragon #oc #nightwing #hybrid #icewing #silkwing #seawing
Two purple dragons in a dimly lit shop. One is closer to the foreground and investigating a shiny necklace. The room is illuminated by low hanging moon globe lights and a stained glass window.

WIP Installation! This has been giving me a hell of a time and it’s a lot of long work for little obvious payoff. Will be worth it hopefully though. It’s not true installation just yet, but that’s where it’s headed! #oilpainting #installation #sculpture #art

These are what I have to show for my first semester! I was kinda iffy on posting them because they’re experimental and I’ve already moved on - taking the concepts I started here much further. The raptor cave painting/imprint in particular thrives in my studio posing with all of the debris.
A dimly lit, small, cluttered artist studio with a painting on the wall. It’s fragmented into four panels from a cardboard box, depicting a reddish brown outline of a microraptor on a bright yellow-cream background. The cardboard has been slashed and dug into revealing the inner texture in multiple areas. The pose is agonized and warped, filling a role between cave painting and imprint. Two paintings hanging on a wall one on top of the other with a 2 inch gap between them. They’re both oil paint over top cardboard. The top painting is referencing prehistoric plants and the bottom one, prehistoric shelled animals such as ammonites. They read as very abstract. The top one is brown and orange with bits of scale texture and blue. The bottom is rainbow at times with multiple swirls and complicated clusters of form. Both have been cut into, revealing the textured cardboard underneath. In some of these instances, aluminum wire is decoratively woven throughout.

Something I put together on my studio cork board! Thinking of doing more of these overlapping prehistoric inspired paintings. #art #painting

My page from the Wings of Fire: Dragonet Prophecy graphic novel redraw project. I’ll be posting some old stuff, maybe out of order. #wingsoffire #wof #dragons
Graphic novel page - redrawn from Wings of Fire: The Dragonet Prophecy. A large orange dragon, Queen Scarlet, with treasure draped around her neck enters the cave - tailed by her guards. “Hello Again.” Clay, a bulky brown dragon, protectively covers his friends. “Oh no!” From behind his wing, Tsunami, a blue sea dragon becomes enraged. “You followed us?” Queen Scarlet slyly looks down at them. “Oh, I didn’t have to. someone sent up a lovely, helpful smoke signal for me. What a brilliant idea!” A small yellow dragon, Sunny, peeks from behind Clay’s other wing. “Who- who are you?” Page 66.

BFA Thesis or “Viscarity.” Obligatory “most things I make aren’t ten feet tall,” but it was worth it! Never underestimate the value of good mentors who push you put of your comfort zone. The attached text is my general artist statement along with an extra paragraph at the end about the piece. ❤️
Five paintings of abstracted fossils in varying sizes and dimensions. Light projection of the real specimens over top and connected with aluminum rod. Museum display setting. Projector visible.Five paintings of abstracted fossils in varying sizes and dimensions. Light projection of the real specimens over top and connected with aluminum rod. Museum display setting.Name: Lexi Moser - Title: Viscarity - Medium: oil on dibond, aluminum, video projection - Statement: I began communicating with crayon drawings before I learned how to string words together - strange shapes and spliced objects. Subsequently, I consider art my first language. I have always relied on it to process my thoughts and emotions, and this has remained an essential constant in my life as words continue to fail me. My soup-brain has many quirks, conflating the world around me in bizarre ways. The flow of time tends to escape me. The study of prehistory is often presented as immutable. Functionally though, much of it is predicated on educated assumptions. We clarify and recontextualize through emerging perspectives and discoveries - never sure of how close we are to an absolute truth. My work addresses the nebulous condition of the past through distorted and overlapping forms to make sense of an incomplete reality. Nothing is more compelling to me than the raw veracity of a fossil

I need to figure out which art prompt challenge I want to do for October. The cat one is tempting. Any ideas? 🪤🦝

Trying to figure out how to make some custom categories for my profile. Would be nice to split the art between personal and fandom so that people don’t have to see as much of one or the other if they don’t care to. Also having a little art folder is always good I guess.

This is the last oil painting from the set posted last week! I need to varnish the painting and redo the photo since this one isn’t taken well. Set up a still-life with some friends of objects that are important to us. For me that’s the necklace, kalimba, mandolin, and cat plushie. #art #painting
A still-life oil painting I helped to arrange. Lots of glare on the left and right. Front and center is an orange kalimba. In front of it are scissors, some dried roses, a tiny cork vase with a dried rose in it, and some dried leaves. A brown plush cat is tucked away behind it and a large rusty colored mandolin is strewn across everything in the back. Also features are a boot, a large box with a necklace on it, a violin, and a coyote skull. Everything is arranged on black velvet with pearls scattered about.

Saw this little fawn and mom(?) outside the place we went for dinner. Super sweet!! Mama was giving us the side-eye but overall didn’t seem too bothered by us watching.

When people draw stylized pterosaurs or tiny theropods I prefer them as brainless looking as possible. Just little beasts.

Slowly uploading my old stuff in the meantime while I work on the new! These were from the first painting class I took in college - about 3 years ago. I went from having no idea what I was doing to confidently having no idea what I’m doing. There’s another one but it’s distinct from these. #art
Still-Life oil painting of a shoe and bottle - done in grayscale. There are also construction paper panels. Loosely done.Still-life oil painting of two boxes stacked. The bottom one is a roughly done brown box and the top is a better painted white and brown box. The background is very simple but you can see the layering struggle with colors.Still-life oil painting. There are two blue books stacked and a blue-striped cup with a pink tissue in it. A yellow vase is sitting off to the right and a broken, pastel green cabinet with chipped paint is leaning in the background. Blue and brown construction board breaks up the background.Still-life oil painting. Brown and blue construction paper and a very simple cabinet background. White block sitting on top of a shiny, pastel-purple book. A maroon cloth is draped around it and held down by a light blue mug with a utensil in it. Also on top of the binder is a pool ball and a weird container that felt like corn husk. Black and white, book leans behind the rest.

Fair warning to anyone who decides to follow me for dinosaurs. I also am going to be posting art for Wings of Fire, Warriors, and My Little Pony. It’s coded into my DNA I fear. That being said the fossil work is where my actual career is headed, haha.

Don’t ever do it this way. This is the wrong way to do this.
Girlfailure Autumnfrost also known as Lexi has attempted to mount wet paintings. This success was a fluke.Painting lying flat on the ground. This is normally how you’re supposed to do it. This one isn’t wet so it was safe. Also uncut aluminum rod chilling and being a nuisance.Edited image for the projector! These are all photos of fossils I abstracted bashed together and for transparency the diagram of the pheasant skeleton used is public domain.

Also ended up making a book as a requirement for graduating with honors. It’s essentially a school portfolio! Went with the option to do it from scratch instead of ordering it in because I wanted to do some goofy customization. Would have been way more difficult without the book binder though.
The front cover of an artist book. It reads “Lexi Moser HBFA Thesis 2024” and there is an abstract bluish fossil design splashed throughout the background.Back cover of the same artist book.
