It’s a little different muscle to transition from historical to contemporary

Jennifer Westecott @authorjen78.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

This will be the first time I’m going to use beta readers as well. I usually have it do a read aloud first, then line by line polish

After the final chapter I’m taking a break before revisions. I don’t always know right away. I always test it out before I decide to leave it

110

Jennifer Westecott @authorjen78.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

I take a little break and then dive back in

110

Jennifer Westecott @authorjen78.bsky.social · 24/07/2026

Yes I am actively writing a book right now, I’m on the final chapter

110

Jennifer Westecott @authorjen78.bsky.social · 24/07/2026

It usually surprises me which ideas will stick and which will disappear. I like both subgenres. It just depends on how I’m feeling in the moment as to which will come out

110

Jennifer Westecott @authorjen78.bsky.social · 24/07/2026

Sometimes they do, that’s why I never get rid of notes from my outlines

110

Jennifer Westecott @authorjen78.bsky.social · 24/07/2026

I write all ideas down and then go through them and decide which ones I like best. It’s quite a process but it’s my process that works for me

210

Jennifer Westecott @authorjen78.bsky.social · 23/07/2026

They’re showing up with their own ideas for starting off the next book.

110

Jennifer Westecott @authorjen78.bsky.social · 23/07/2026

I have it partially mapped out but I’m also letting my characters guide me as they have with this current one. Heartbreak Falls was written without any clear path of what I was going to write? I just sat down and started typing.

Jennifer Westecott @authorjen78.bsky.social · 23/07/2026

I’m still working on it, right now I’m working on a contemporary romance that will be a 3 book series

110

Jennifer Westecott @authorjen78.bsky.social · 23/07/2026

Thank you. It's going to have a second book coming sometime next year.
