I'm deleting my TikTok account. I wasn't posting much there anyway, but if you want to keep up with me, my newsletter is a much better place to see what I'm up to, especially since I've been staying off social media a lot more lately.

Yeah, so, remember when I said it was originally supposed to be a short story? 😅😅😅 Well, now I have to make the decision on whether to condense things and make it shorter or expand and make it a full book. 📚💙 #writingcommunity

Well, my urban fantasy casino-themed "short" story officially crossed 40K today 😅🤦‍♀️ Not so short anymore LOL but at least it's finally getting close to being actually done. I can't wait until I get to share it with you!! #writingcommunity 📚💙

Well, very pleasantly surprised to report, despite the frustrating timing, I think the hyper fixation was exactly what I needed. The problem section is resolved (at least enough to feel okay moving forward in the early drafting stages) and there is still hope of hitting my deadline if I hustle 💪

Author Emily Lankow 🌈 @authoremilylankow.bsky.social · 27/10/2025

Barely a week left until my deadline for the casino short story (which was already extended once), so of course my brain has decided that this morning was the optimal time to start doubting my execution of a pivotal part of the plot and making me hyper fixate on it instead of writing the ending 😬🤦‍♀️

Reasons why you should never, ever believe me if I tell you I'm working on a "short" story: 1) The plot bunnies keep having babies 2) You can pry my extravagantly vibrant descriptions from my cold, dead hands 3) My characters keep answering questions I never asked 4) 30k is short, right? 💙📚

Well, I feel like a Disney princess now, lol A bird got stuck inside & struck a window. As I approached, it flew back toward the window, flapping wildly. I asked it to calm down so I could show it how to get out, & it did. I took it outside & put it on a tree. After a few minutes, it flew away 💕
