The Sixers have raved about Labaron Philon Jr. all camp long. Between that and Edgecombe’s handle and finishing looking tighter, plus Jaylen Brown playing, still plenty of intrigue for a preseason game.

I addressed that in the reply.

Is this a threat? Yes? No? Maybe so?

Eagles suck. Been hearing reports that the Flyers suck. Your peace lies with one team, and they have their first preseason game tomorrow…

New video report with highlights, quotes, and things that caught my eye from the Sixers’ Blue x White scrimmage yesterday:

The theme of day 4 of Sixers training camp? That would be Joel Embiid. Video report from Camden:

A few minutes after what sounded like a helicopter departed from the Sixers' training complex on Friday, it sounded as if another helicopter was in the vicinity. Justin Edwards, never shy, had a one-liner referencing LeBron James:

What did you expect from Kirk Herbstreit?

For the Braves’ next act, they’re going to bring a 71-year-old Home Depot employee out of the bullpen who spent 17 years pitching for the El Paso Chihuahuas before Atlanta discovered him and he, too, will throw 3 shutout innings.

Nola absolutely going through it in that dugout but if his margin for error was literally 0 runs, it doesn’t matter anyway.

Live look at my mental state if the Phillies aren’t up 5 runs in the 9th inning.

The Sixers spent the first 2 days of camp on defense. What was day 3 about? Hear from Nick Nurse and Jaylen Brown from Camden on Thursday afternoon:

020

Austin Krell @austinkrell.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

Jaylen Brown: "Tyrese has just been a great communicator, leading with voice early on. He's gone out of his way to make sure I feel comfortable...He doesn't have to do that. I'm the type of guy that I'll figure it out regardless. But for him to try and make sure I feel welcomed, I appreciate it."

Austin Krell @austinkrell.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

Ariel Hukporti on Joel Embiid: "That post game is quite impressive."

031

Austin Krell @austinkrell.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

Asked Nick Nurse where you start when building an offense for a team that has as much talent as the Sixers do:

051

Austin Krell @austinkrell.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

Nurse: "[Embiid] and LeBron have both been a part of everything we've done. I will say they're both pretty smart about when we're scrimmaging and run 7 or 8 plays, they're getting themselves in and out. I think they're not overdoing it. But, yes, they want to get in shape, get the chemistry, feel."

010

Austin Krell @austinkrell.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

Nurse said Adem Bona is not practicing. He will be evaluated in the next couple days. Nurse thinks he'll be ready for a couple of the preseason games.

I’ve had a couple post-work beers but does that Flyers score say 7-0?

Dean Wade on VJ Edgecombe: "I love the way he plays. I really do. Any time I get out there on his team, I love it. He's flying around in transition, he's making the right cuts, he's sacrificing shots for people. He plays the right way and it's so fun to be on his team."

Tyrese Maxey on Joel Embiid: "He looks great. He looks amazing. He looks happy. I think that's great. When you're healthy and you're happy, you're at peace with your life and basketball, that's when you're at your best. So he's been great. He's....he's Joel."

How down to the studs do the Sixers go when building up their defense in training camp? According to Tyrese Maxey, one of the things they're working on right now is the "verbiage of switching". "When we got this many new guys, it's the small things like that that you mess up."

Austin Krell @austinkrell.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

33-year-old All-Star shortstop couldn't find the plate discipline to hang in against a rookie reliever and give the guys who just hit back-to-back homers chances before the bottom of the 9th.

Rolled out Kevin Long for another go, set the franchise on fire with the money he gave Turner and Realmuto, and then blamed Thomson when it was really his consecutive winters of doing nothing that were to blame.

Hope Rob Thomson is somewhere enjoying a drink and laughing about how Dombrowski hung him out to dry over this group of people.

Tyrese Maxey, who could be seen after camp yesterday sitting outside the training complex as if he needed a ride, had a long laugh when a reporter brought up "a teammate" leaving by helicopter. Maxey said, "One of us left on the helicopter, the other was sitting on the curb."
