It is estimated that over a million Tibetan children, as young as four years old are kept in these schools, separated from their families, communities and way of life. Even a conservative estimation of 800,000, as reported by PBS in this coverage is alarming.

Tibetan former political prisoner Namkyi made a powerful speech at the 17th Geneva Summit for Human Rights and Democracy In 2015 Namkyi was arrested and later tortured by Chinese Police for a demonstration of support for the Dalai Lama. She continues to show tremendous bravery to share her story.
